VETRXDiRECT a winner in my book!
My geriatric Lab/Pointer mix became diabetic about a year ago. It's be a somewhat scary, uphill battle, learning how to deal with this, from the special diet, weighing and measuring his food to an exact amount, getting the insulin dose correct, and treating the other co-occurring problems, like his urinary tract infection. Just when I think it's going to be clear sailing, Walmart stopped carrying Humulin NPH insulin. Worse still? They have the audacity to tell me I should just buy Novolin NPH, because "it's the same thing, only generic!" Not true at all, and Walmart ought to be ashamed for doling out misinformation that could prove dangerous to the health of those depending on them for their medication. For my dog there is a big difference in dosing between Humulin and Novolin. So I thought the solution would be easy enough- Just switch to buying from a local pharmacy, like Walgreens or CVS, or Rite Aid. WRONG. The price disparity was not to be believed- One pharmacy told me it would be $150 for his 10ml bottle of Humulin...quite a bit more than the $92 I was paying at Walmart for the same size bottle. Thank goodness for VetRXDirect! My Max has his Humulin for little more than I paid at Walmart. The only near-hassle was that they require a prescription, whereas I don't need a prescription when I buy from pharmacies near my home. But no matter- The staff at VetRxDirect actually took the time to contact my vet, obtain the prescription via fax and fill it, all within 24 hours! Insulin should be refridgerated, and VetRxDirect packed my insulin in a little styrofoam cooler with cold packs. Awesome! I will continue using VetRxDirect as well as recommending them to all my pet-owning friends. They're the best!
