I used an OVHcloud ADVANCE-1 2024 dedicated server from 20 April 2026 until the final cancellation confirmation on 6 October 2026 — about 169 elapsed days, or roughly 5 months and 16 days. The server was hosted in LIM3, Limburg, Germany, running Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS, with an AMD EPYC 4244P, 32 GB DDR5 ECC, 2 × 960 GB Enterprise NVMe SSDs, software RAID, 3 Gbps public bandwidth and 25 Gbps private network capacity. One confirmed invoice was USD 132.25, around SAR 496, while my practical monthly cost was generally around SAR 500–550. The hardware itself was decent. My problem was the experience around the server. During account/payment verification I was asked for extensive verification, including passport identification, a selfie and images related to payment cards. Soon after setup, I had SSH/access problems and had to use Rescue Mode. In April and May I spent a lot of time troubleshooting boot, SSH, GRUB and recovery. Around 9–10 May, Rescue Mode credentials were not arriving as expected and ticket #679755 was opened. I had to work through filesystem mounts, GRUB reinstall/update, Boot to Disk, reboots and repeated SSH timeouts. Another major problem was the split between OVHcloud US and OVHcloud World/Europe. OVH is a French company, my physical server was in Germany, but parts of my account/support experience were tied to OVHcloud US while other actions required the World/European system. In May I repeatedly tried to create/use an OVHcloud World account using iPhone, laptop, different browsers, Hotmail and Gmail. Verification emails arrived several times, but registration could still fail, freeze or reject the process. I also investigated upgrading the server, but the practical answer was to order a new dedicated server, migrate the data manually, likely change IPs, then cancel the old one. That is technically possible, but not a smooth upgrade path. The cancellation process was also confusing. Around 1 October I initiated cancellation through Bare Metal Cloud → Dedicated Servers. Instead of receiving a clear permanent cancellation confirmation immediately, the first result was a suspension-type status. On 4 October I followed up under request #742625 asking for permanent termination, no future renewal or billing, and written confirmation that no paid options remained. I had to follow up again by email. Finally, on 6 October 2026, Oscar from OVHcloud US Support confirmed that the server had been “fully canceled” and that “no further renewals will be processed.” He also confirmed there were no linked add-ons such as licenses or extra IPs. That final response was clear and appreciated. However, I cannot turn almost five and a half months of account friction, Rescue Mode issues, missing credentials, boot/GRUB recovery, fragmented US/World support, failed registration attempts, limited upgrade flexibility and a confusing cancellation process into a positive rating just because the final cancellation was handled correctly. The server hardware was respectable. The weakest part was the customer experience around account management, recovery, support routing, mobile usability, upgrade flexibility and cancellation. For a service costing about USD 132.25 / SAR 496 on a confirmed invoice and generally around SAR 500+ per month, I expected a much smoother experience. OVHcloud should improve account unification, verification reliability, mobile usability, Rescue Mode credential delivery, support escalation, upgrade/migration paths, and permanent cancellation confirmation.

Hi Abdullateef, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We're sorry for the frustration you dealt with over these past months. That isn't the experience we want any customer to have, and we apologize for the inconvenience it caused. Our support team has reviewed your tickets and the points you raised. Your feedback on account management, recovery, and the cancellation process has been shared with the relevant teams so we can keep improving. We're glad Oscar was able to give you a clear final confirmation, and we appreciate your kind words about the hardware. We understand why your rating reflects the overall journey, and we hope to have the opportunity to earn your business again in the future. Sincerely, Megan

I ordered a RISE-S dedicated server from OVHcloud US on 14 September and paid $877.80 for a full year upfront. As I write this on 20 September, that server has never booted an operating system. Not once. OVH's own API still reports its OS as "none". This is not a misconfiguration on my side. What has actually happened: - Six attempts to install Ubuntu 24.04, through both the API and the OVH control panel. Every one either sat in the queue and never started, or was refused outright with "Server resource ... is already locked by another process, blocking any new OS reinstallation". - The install task sitting on the server right now has been in "todo" since yesterday. Its scheduled start time moves forward by one minute, every minute. It has never begun. - Restarting the server from the control panel also fails with an error. - The only thing that has ever worked is rescue mode. From there I could see the hardware is fine: both NVMe drives present, SMART status PASSED, disks completely blank. So this isn't a dead machine. Something on OVH's side is stuck, and in six days nobody has unstuck it. The support experience has been worse than the fault itself. I opened a ticket on 15 September. I have had three replies in six days. One of them told me the datacenter team had "reviewed this matter" and asked me to confirm everything was working — nothing had been fixed and the server was still unreachable. The last reply of any kind came on 17 September. Since then, silence. I've used the live chat several times. Every time I'm told the datacenter team is looking into it and to wait for a ticket update. In one chat the agent asked me a question and then closed the chat for "inactivity" six minutes later, while I was sitting there waiting for them. Nobody has ever given me an ETA. On 17 September I asked to simply be moved to a different server. No response. On 19 September I gave written pre-authorization for any physical intervention at all — reboot it, swap components, replace the whole machine, there is no data on it. No response. Then I asked for a refund. I opened a ticket titled "CANCEL ORDER + FULL REFUND". It was closed without a single reply. I reopened it as a new ticket. That one was closed without a reply either. Two refund requests, zero responses, both marked resolved. That is what turned this from bad luck into something I would warn other people about. Hardware fails, and I can live with that. But when a brand new server cannot be made to work for six days, the answer is obvious: give the customer a different machine, or give them their money back. Instead I'm holding an $877 invoice for a server I have never been able to use for a single second, an open ticket nobody answers, and refund requests that get closed in silence. If you're considering OVHcloud, think hard before paying a year upfront. The pricing is genuinely good. But price only matters if the server works — and if it doesn't, you may find there's no practical way to get help and no practical way to get your money back. Server ns3269964.ip-37-187-141.eu (GRA1). Tickets 734831, 735629, 737030, 737111.

Hi Saurav, Thank you for the detailed review. A server that never successfully booted an OS, tickets with inadequate follow-up, and a refund request closed without a reply do not reflect the standard we hold ourselves to. I've requested additional information through Trustpilot, and what you've shared here has already been routed to our support leadership. We want to make sure someone reaches out to you with a real resolution, not another status update. I'm sorry this has been your experience. Sincerely, Megan

would give 0 stars if I could, 98% price increase with 1 month notice....... I can by my own hardware 3 months worth of this cost.... I can understand increasing the price of new machines but my ram that you bought for the machine i have been using has not gone up you are doing a capital raise from existing customers giving 1 moth notice its scummy.

I would strongly caution anyone considering OVHCloud VPS services if IP reputation or geolocation matters to their application. I purchased a VPS located in Canada, but Google identifies the server's IP as originating from Iran. This caused serious problems accessing Google services from the server. WHOIS shows the IP address as Canadian, but in practice, Google treats it very differently. After encountering the problem, I obtained another OVHCloud IP and experienced the same issue again. I contacted support expecting them to investigate the IP reputation/geolocation problem or provide a usable replacement. Their response was essentially that WHOIS says Canada, they do not control Google's classification, they cannot assist with Google's blocklist, and the primary VPS IP cannot be changed. I understand that OVHCloud cannot control Google's systems. However, as the hosting provider assigning these IP addresses, I expected considerably more assistance when multiple IPs they provided had the same serious reputation/geolocation problem. Telling the customer to resolve it with Google while also saying the assigned IP cannot be replaced leaves the customer with a VPS that is effectively unusable for applications that depend on Google services. In my case, I paid for a Canadian VPS and received IP addresses that Google repeatedly treated as Iranian, with no practical solution offered by OVHCloud. Very disappointing support experience and not something I would recommend.

Hi Mehmet, Thank you for the detail here and for sending the additional information we requested. I've shared it with the support team and flagged the IP geolocation issue for review. We'll follow up directly. Thank you, Megan

Horrific support and sometimes servers. Support literally (no exaggeration) closed a ticket on me with 0 response and on another ticket took 3 weeks. I also had a server recently offline for almost 2 months.
Response from OVHcloud USAug 24, 2026
Hi Abdullah, This is not the experience we want anyone to have. A closed ticket with no response and a 3-week resolution time are not acceptable, and a server offline for two months is a serious issue. We've requested your information through Trustpilot. Please share your account details so we can look into what happened and make sure the right people are aware. Thank you, Megan

DO NOT BUY If you deploy a server here, pray that absolutely nothing goes sideways, because the moment it does, you are trapped in an absolute hellscape of bad UI and slow automated systems. I put my VPS in rescue it took there email 15-20 minutes to get to me for a simple password i dont think there gonna give me a refund either even if they do i still wont come here ever again I just spent hours trying to fix a broken SSH authentication loop on a fresh setup. The control panel is a total disaster—essential tools like the KVM/VNC console are buried or completely missing, making it impossible to easily troubleshoot a lockout locally. When you inevitably have to resort to Rescue Mode just to mount your drive and fix root access, the system completely crawls. Waiting for OVH to generate and email temporary rescue credentials takes an eternity. By the time you finally get in, deal with persistent token errors, and realize the system is completely borked, you've wasted half your day just to end up having to completely reinstall the OS anyway. The cheap pricing is not worth the hours of life you will lose dealing with their broken administration backend and delayed emails. Absolute garbage tier user experience.

Hi StizzyBee, We're sorry the setup experience was this difficult. An SSH authentication issue on a fresh server is a frustrating place to start. This behavior is often tied to a default security feature in many Linux distributions that requires a password change on first login. We recognize that's easy to miss and worth making clearer in our onboarding. Our support team is available to walk through it if needed. Sincerely, Megan

I signed up for OVHcloud because I wanted to rent a cloud server. Apparently, OVHcloud thought I was applying for top-secret security clearance. Right after placing my order, I received an email asking for a government-issued photo ID, a photo of my credit card, and a selfie of me holding the ID. At that point, I was half expecting the next request to be my fingerprints, dental records, and a signed statement from three neighbors. I have signed up for Google Cloud and AWS without any problems. The funniest part is that this request arrives by email and comes with a 48-hour deadline. Because nothing says “modern cybersecurity” quite like an urgent email asking for your ID, credit card, and a selfie. Somewhere, a phishing scammer is probably taking notes. In the end, I decided not to continue and requested that my account be closed. Not recommended for anyone who values privacy—or anyone who does not keep an ID, credit card, and professional selfie lighting ready beside their computer.

Hi George, Fair feedback, and the fingerprints line did make me smile. The verification process exists for compliance and fraud prevention reasons, but we hear you that the experience doesn't match expectations. That's worth improving. We've requested your account details through Trustpilot to log this on our end. Sorry it didn't work out, but we appreciate the feedback. Thank you, Megan
