DO NOT BELIEVE THEM when they tell you
DO NOT BELIEVE THEM when they tell you, “Insure it for the minimum amount.” I sent a package containing tools and personal belongings, and it arrived in a condition that looked as if someone had been playing football with it: the heavy-duty DeWalt plastic tool boxes, which are designed to withstand serious loads, arrived cracked and badly damaged, and I honestly cannot imagine what was done to these boxes during transportation to leave them in such a condition. The Milwaukee tools were also damaged, with plastic parts broken off and holders and key organizers damaged; basically, everything inside was broken or damaged. I contacted customer support, but instead of properly resolving the problem, I was essentially told that it was just a plastic box and that plastic can crack. Guys, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! If you are shipping anything valuable, insure it for its real value, take photographs of everything before shipping, photograph the packaging, and make sure you ask about all the conditions several times. Because when your package arrives destroyed, you may find that proving anything is extremely difficult. In my case, I am now being told why damage to a plastic box is supposedly something normal. I simply cannot understand how packages can be handled so carelessly that heavy-duty DeWalt boxes and Milwaukee tools arrive in this condition. I am extremely disappointed with the way the customer is treated and the way other people’s property is handled. Do not rely on verbal promises: insure your belongings, take photographs, and keep all documents, otherwise you may receive nothing for your damaged items.
Response from Meest USAAug 13, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are very sorry that your shipment arrived damaged! We would, however, like to clarify several important points. 1) Meest never advises customers to declare an incorrect or artificially low value for their belongings. On the contrary, we consistently encourage customers to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information about both the contents and the value of their shipments. We communicate this through our website, social media, customer emails, and other informational materials. For reference: https://us.meest.com/news/update-on-customs-control-information-in-ukraine https://www.instagram.com/p/DY7DXaCgLig/?img_index=3 If someone specifically advised you to insure or declare your shipment for the minimum amount, please let us know who provided you with this information and, if possible, when and where this conversation took place. We would like to investigate this internally, as this does not reflect our policy or the guidance we provide to customers. 2) International logistics involves many different stages. There are parts of the transportation process that Meest directly controls and is responsible for, including handling at our facilities and transportation to airports or seaports. However, shipments also pass through third-party facilities, airlines, ports, terminals, customs facilities, and other transportation partners where we do not have direct visibility into every individual package at every moment. Unfortunately, just as checked luggage can sometimes be damaged during air travel, parcels can also sustain damage while moving through the international transportation network. This is certainly not something we consider normal or acceptable, but it is one of the risks associated with international transportation. 3) Regarding compensation, Meest compensates eligible lost or damaged contents based on the value declared by the sender and the applicable insurance coverage. We cannot reimburse an amount higher than the value that was officially declared when the shipment was created. This is a standard principle in the logistics industry, because compensation must be based on documented declaration rather than a value established only after a loss or damage has occurred. We are genuinely sorry that this happened to your shipment and that your experience left you disappointed. We would be happy to review the circumstances of your case in detail, including the misleading information you received regarding declaration and insurance.
