Superb quality of interactive videos
Universal CPA Review has very good interactive videos and MCQs, and I especially liked that many of the explanations are delivered by an instructor rather than just text. I found the videos engaging and easier to stay focused on compared to traditional lecture formats. Personally, I found Universal's videos more interactive and attention-grabbing than Becker's. As a result, I felt less mentally fatigued and was less tempted to get distracted by my phone or other activities while studying. If you struggle with Becker's lecture style, I would strongly consider Universal as a supplement. In some areas, I found their explanations of concepts clearer and easier to absorb, especially for someone not familiar with US Tax. For candidates on a budget, a combination of Universal CPA Review and a large question bank such as Gleim can work very well. I also used Universal CPA Review tutoring sessions (approximately $25 USD for a two-hour session), which I found to be a cost-effective alternative to Becker's targeted review options. Becker ultimately prepared me very well—I passed IQEX/REG with a 92—but Universal CPA Review was an excellent supplement that helped reinforce concepts and maintain my motivation throughout the study process.
