United Healthcare Medical and Dental Plans
I work in healthcare and this aboslutely the worst healthcare plan. My elderly mother (98yrs and very healthy for her age) is on it and they continually raise her medicare premiums.
I have theUHC dental plan and it is horrible. They denied a crown I needed. The dentist sent the additional information they asked for and still denied the procedure which cost me $2,86.00! Also, the two agents that "helped" me had not idea how to provide the informtion I asked for. Do not use UHC.

Made my claim so difficult, I gave up
For years, I purchased all of my travel insurance through Allianz and had nothing but positive experiences. On the rare occasions I needed to file a claim, the process was straightforward, the customer service was helpful, and my claims were handled efficiently.
Since I'm no longer a U.S. resident, I wasn't eligible to purchase an Allianz policy for this trip, so I purchased travel insurance through SafeTrip by UnitedHealthcare Global instead. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite.
I had to cancel my trip for medical reasons and submitted what I believed was a comprehensive claim package, including:
- A physician's letter detailing my diagnosis, when my symptoms began, my treatment, and confirming I was medically unable to travel.
- Proof that I purchased a non-refundable American Airlines ticket.
- Proof that I cancelled the ticket.
Instead of reviewing the documentation I had already provided, I was told that my doctor had to complete SafeTrip's specific physician form, even though my doctor's letter already contained the same information. Since I didn't have the form at my appointment, complying would have required another visit and additional expense.
I was also asked to obtain documentation from American Airlines confirming that no refund or travel credit had been issued. I had already submitted proof that my ticket was non-refundable, and I was unable to obtain the additional documentation they requested. When I questioned whether the documentation I'd already submitted was sufficient, I simply received the same standard response again rather than an answer to my question.
In the end, the claims process became so burdensome and frustrating that I abandoned my approximately $600 claim rather than continue spending more time and money trying to satisfy ever-increasing documentation requests.
Based on my experience, I would never purchase travel insurance from SafeTrip by UnitedHealthcare Global again. There are companies that make the claims process straightforward and customer-focused. This was not one of them. I strongly recommend choosing a different travel insurance provider.

Absolutely zero works with United healthcare
Absolutely nothing works in so far as using their "UCard", and I received an odd letters/bills stating I owe for an eye exam. Presumably because I chose my frames and got progressive (darkening) eye glasses.
"BUT" I paid out of my pocket for the upgrades.
I called for customer service, HA! Sure, if you want to speak with support who hardly understands or speaks English.
I'm very patient with them, they're only trying to earn a living...but they're also very, very little help, as in zero.
Date of experience? Pffft, ever since I've been with them, since last year.
Come October... I'm outta United healthcare :::poof::: fast as I can!!!

I have received over one thousand calls…
I have received over one thousand calls from telemarketers claiming they are working for united healthcare. They are using robo calls and then it forwards you to a foreign person claiming they work for united healthcare. Is there any way this can be stopped. I get over at least twenty calls a day. If you call the number back it is no longer in service.

Cancel commercials on help lines
When you call in to the members help line you have to sit through commercials and listen to sales pitch for medical alert buttons.

I would not even give the 1 star
I would not even give the 1 star
I have never given a review of any business ( healthcare, restaurant, hotel ect ). United Health is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is horrible. I have been transferred at least 10 times today as well as yesterday. I'm still on the phone and still can't get the information I need.
I am trying to cancel my policy and get my money back. How can a company exist like this. Oh yea they are a health insurance company. They are running a scam and could care less about their customers.

Active resistance to reaching a supervisor
We spent the better part of an hour trying to get customer service to explain an important prescription being denied. The agent, Al from the Philippines center, initially tried to help, we think -- he kept putting us on hold to get advice from someone, then coming back to ask more questions. When this process did not yield any real answers, we asked for a supervisor. He said there was a long wait. We said we wanted to wait. He put us on a completely silent hold, then kept coming back whenever we yelled "hello" into the phone, assuring us we would get a supervisor any minute. We finally asked him to hang up and said good-bye, because we had clicked "yes" to give UHC our feedback on the call. After hesitating, he did a double-click hang-up that prevented us from giving actual feedback. Some nice trick, UHC, so your poor customer service reps can keep dissatisfied people from letting you know what happened. He tried, he was sort of responsive, but he did not have the know-how to answer our question. Do better!
