Fall Detection does not work as advertised
Because I live alone at the end of a rural dirt road, I was excited to give myself the Kanega Watch as a 77th birthday gift. It seemed perfect for me. Unfortunately, the much-advertised fall detection has not worked as advertised. In the 7 months I have been wearing the Kanega Watch, it has detected more than 100 falls, none of which have been real falls. In those same 7 months, I have had 3 real falls, none of which have triggered a fall detection alert. When I called customer service to discuss what seems to be a faulty watch, I was advised that no fall detection system is 100%; I pointed out that this one is 0%. (I would expect it to be at least 50%, better than chance.) I was then given instructions to take several photos of my watch and its batteries and to submit them, which I did. The next day, I came home to a message on my answering machine that the photos showed no problems with my watch, and that the problem had been solved by turning up the sensitivity on my fall detection; if I had any further questions, I could call back at the customer service number. When I did call back, I got the "all our agents are busy; leave a message and we'll call you back" message. Except that no one has ever called back, which has been my experience several times. The bottom line is that I adopted this system for the advertised "peace of mind," but I have no faith that, if I actually fell unconscious and could not call for help, the fall detection system would actually alert and send help.

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration. Fall detection is one of the most valuable safety features we offer, and it’s deeply important to us that you feel protected and confident using your Kanega Watch. While no fall detection technology on the market today is 100% accurate, it should never feel unreliable. False alerts or missed detections can be caused by several factors, including motion patterns, impact angles, or wearer activity level, but our team is committed to working with you to fine-tune your watch to your unique movement. Adjusting the sensitivity, as we did during your last call, is one step in that process, but we certainly should have followed up more thoroughly afterward, and we sincerely apologize for that oversight. Our Customer Success team team can review your watch’s performance history in detail and continue working with you until it’s calibrated properly. Please reach out to us directly at [email protected] or by calling 888-343-1513 so we can personally ensure your system is performing at its best. Your feedback is invaluable, it helps us improve our technology and service for all wearers who rely on us for their safety and peace of mind.
