Truck had a bad A/C unit..We were told most trucks are having the same issue, but Management tells them to rent anyways. I live in the High Desert , and we are in the middle of a heat wave. This is Bad business practice behavior. I almost had heat exhaustion This location is On 20th.St.and Avenue J.Lancaster California.

Very Inept Customer Service
I live in north central Omaha, NE.Two to three weeks ago I went into the location at 90th and Maple and talked with the person who does hitch installation and scheduled an appointment to have my hitch installed. I took my car in today for tomorrow’s appointment and dropped it off. Then I get a call saying that the person who does hitch installation won’t be in tomorrow. So when I went to get I tried to reschedule an appointment but I was told to talk to the installer to schedule it person at the desk said that they were able to schedule it. So I called two other Uhaul locations and was sent to a central office and I got stuck in an AI prompt loop because the reason I was calling was not one of their options. I called one place again and got to person and again I was told to talk to the boss or hitch person because they weren’t allowed to schedule appointments. Very inept customer service and not customer conscience. I probably won’t go back.

Not GUARANTEED
OMG! I reserved a 14' truck three weeks in advance and completed all the required documentation from STAR ASPHALT PAVING including paying upfront for their so-called "guaranteed reservation." The truck was booked for Saturday at 10:00 a.m., and our friends and family had rearranged their busy schedules to help with the move.
When I arrived, the employee brought the truck to the front and then informed me that the check engine light had come on. Because of that, she said they couldn't rent me the truck.
What makes this even more frustrating is that they apparently didn't inspect the vehicle before my scheduled pickup time. After weeks for a "guaranteed" reservation, I was left without a truck at the last minute, while everyone who had volunteered to help was already waiting. The reservation may have been guaranteed, but the service certainly wasn't. This experience was unprofessional, poorly managed, and caused unnecessary stress on what was already a major moving day.

Unseen Racket
I won’t even get in to everything that went wrong because there was a lot (all my reserved equipment not there, inadequate help, etc.) but what I am most upset about is U-Haul charging $1.00 per toll extra as an “admin fee” just to keep money for themselves. And it keeps going up! When I first got the “final” bill it was $9.80. Ok fine. Then when I went to pay it the day after Christmas it somehow was $27.70. And $12 of that is their dollar per toll scam. Companies just don’t care about the customer experience anymore. Long gone are days of honor and respect.

Horrible
Horrible. Don’t bother with this company for long-distance moves. Search around and find another option.
I got the runaround, delayed delivery by nearly a week, and indifference. The late delivery of my furniture and household items meant I had to stay in hotels for a week. Pricey.

U-Haul Disposed of EVERYTHING We Owned – Then Threatened Us
After Hurricane Helene destroyed our home of 9 years, we loaded everything we had left into a 26-foot U-Haul truck rented from their Sweeten Creek location in Asheville, NC. When we temporarily lost the key and had to leave the truck overnight, it vanished. U-Haul didn’t tell us they had it, despite our daily contact. We only found out through our own efforts—not theirs.
Worse, when we tried to retrieve our belongings, the local manager dodged our calls, gave conflicting stories, and eventually threatened us with violence over the phone. U-Haul has since admitted to discarding everything we owned—furniture, electronics, family heirlooms, a Purple Heart medal, irreplaceable photos—without ever properly notifying us.
Needed medications for a life threatening condition disposed of, landing my partner in the hospital in critical condition!
We’ve spoken to corporate, the regional manager, even reached out to the CEO. Not one apology. Not one explanation. Not one act of accountability. Only silence and blame-shifting.
This isn’t just negligence—it feels malicious. And judging by other reviews, we’re not alone.
Avoid this location at all costs. And U-Haul: do better. We lost our home in a hurricane, and you destroyed what was left of our life.
