Customer Service? Phenomenal. Monthly Sub? Needs Work.
I have been a customer with Tentyeight Health for several years now, since they were originally known as Simple Health. It has since been a phenomenal way for me to receive birth control without insurance. I will attempt to be firm but fair, keeping in mind that this is my personal experience and things may have turned out differently for others! Price: Over time, the cost of my birth control has increased, which to a degree, makes sense as everything seems to skyrocket in cost as time goes on. I can personally manage the price of $81 out of pocket for 3 packs, delivered every 3 months - some may not. For me, this is agreeable for what I need and for what I'm willing to pay. Future price increases may change my mind. Delivery has never been a problem, I've always gotten what I needed, and overall it has been a very straightforward and painless experience (see Monthly Sub below). I pay them, they provide what I need. 8/10. Customer Service: I have had incredible experiences with customer service reps; responding way faster than I'd reasonably expect, communicating in a very informative and compassionate way, and even going above and beyond the call of duty to help me with my specific problems and questions. This, I give Twentyeight Health very high marks, and see it as their ultimate strength as a company. 10/10. Other Services/Monthly Sub (this will be a long read): I don't use this service for anything other than birth control, so I can't say much on this aspect. However, there used to be a $26 annual fee for renewing your prescription - which made sense to me. They moved to a model in which you are signed up for a "Standard Care Plan" for $12.99/month when you need to renew your prescription. This "Care Plan" includes other features that I quite honestly don't care for (other people might). If you don't want to pay for yet another monthly service, you have to reach out to a customer service rep (again, they're amazing, so this was pretty painless for me) to cancel the "Standard Care Plan" after you renew your yearly prescription, because you're auto signed up when you renew. I was unaware of this. Yes - the care plan is cheaper than the previous $26 annual fee, and I will give them that. That's fantastic. Though, automatically signing customers up for a monthly subscription when all they're attempting to do is renew their prescription feels confusing at best, and manipulative at worst. When I first got the email regarding their implementation of this system, I immediately emailed a rep to clarify that I did not want a monthly sub. Was confirmed I was moved to the "Basic Plan" (0$/Month) and went on my merry way. Then, a few months later, I renewed my prescription as I had done for a number of years, and was signed up for the monthly service that I did not ask for nor (knowingly) agreed to. Huh? Sure, I may have missed an email listing this fine print and this could be on me. From my recollection, I do not remember agreeing to this, checking any boxes, confirming I understood I was signing up for this monthly fee before I renewed, nothing. The incredible customer service is the only reason this didn't become a headache for me, I was very cared for and I understand their system better now. Quite literally, the customer service (hi, Kelsey!) is the only reason I'm still a client moving forward. I get what they're trying to do, and a monthly service is a great idea for extra features for clients who NEED that additional care. I just don't see it necessary to sign someone up for a monthly service automatically unless they specify that they want to pay for extra services. In my opinion, if I'm simply renewing my prescription, I should only have to pay a one time fee - not be signed up for a monthly subscription for services I didn't specify that I wanted that I have to take extra steps to cancel (you cannot cancel via an app or the website, you have to email). The way they're implementing it seems a bit convoluted to me and I personally think it could use some tightening up. 3/10 Overall, there are strengths and weaknesses, and as long as you fully understand how their Sub system works and what to do when you renew (especially if you don't want any other features) then this is a solid option for your reproductive health.
