I wanted to use this subscription service for convenience, but I've found my experience with Twentyeight health to be more stressful than it's worth. I've been struggling to get my birth control prescription for about 4 months now due to system errors with their pharmacy provider and customer service has been extremely unhelpful in resolving the issue.

Don’t use TwentyEight Health
I was using Simple Health for years for birth control. They were amazing. I had no issues during my time with them. Then they were bought by TwentyEight Health. I was told all my information was being transferred and I am not a patient of TwentyEight Health. I decided to give it a try. Issues started right away. They couldn’t get a doctor to review my file and prescribe birth control for WEEKS upon being transferred to this company. I understand they were dealing with a lot of new clients at the time, but they bought Simple Health so they should have prepared and hired more staff in advance to be able to accurately and quickly deal with the large amount of new clients they had in a timely manner. Because of this, I ran out of birth control and went weeks without taking any because they simply don’t have the numbers to handle the amount of client they have. This wasn’t the only time something like this happened. They were a month late a second time getting my birth control shipped to me. Then this happened a third time right after Christmas and they blamed it on the holidays. At that point, I asked what their excuse was for the second time being late when that one happened before Thanksgiving. They couldn’t provide me a reason. Not only that, but it took them over a week to respond to my inquiry. I could not risk getting my birth control late ever again. So I left and have now signed up with Nurx, who has been very helpful, timely, and responsive

Leaves You Without Birth Control!!
The amount of stress this company gives me that I switched to for convenience is unbelievable. So many times I have not received birth control on time. Luckily I had back up from my old prescription. Now, it is March and I haven’t received anything since December!! I am completely out. My prescription is active, no change in insurance… I don’t understand. I haven’t had a period in 2 years (thanks to BC, because I used to get terrible ones) and I am very afraid that TwentyEight Health’s carelessness will be the cause of me having a very painful next couple of weeks. :(
Update: Twentyeight Health responded and let me know that their pharmacy partner no long carried the generic of my BC. Okay, but they’ve switched without notifying me before… Why wait 3 months, until I had run out and had to reach out, to tell me now? Thankfully my primary care doctor was able to get me immediate help and I cancelled my account with Twentyeight Health.

No meds, no customer service to talk to
I used to use Pill Club but when they got bought out by NuRX I found out that they did not take my insurance anymore. So after some Google searching, I found TwentyEight Health. The sign up was easy enough and I received an emailed the next day saying that my prescription was approved and would be sent to their pharmacy team to be filled and delivered and that would take 3 to 5 business days after their doctors approval of the prescription. It’s been almost 3 weeks now and I have not gotten my prescription nor any confirmation that the pharmacy team would be sending out my prescription. I tried to text the customer service number on their website to get an update but it said the number was not in service. So I tried to email the customer service email address that was on their contact us page as well and the email address was not valid and I was unable to send my email to them. I have now been out of Birth Control for three weeks and with nobody to turn to for help. This is very concerning. Who did I give my personal information and insurance info to?

Hard to review a company that does not…
Hard to review a company that does not literally do anything

DOES NOTHING AS PROMISED
I don't get how this company gets clients. I had a subscription for two months and had to cancel because my order was either late, lost, or I had to personally call my pharmacy to get a refill! I was supposed to get 3 packs at a time, and because my orders never arrived.. My pharmacy only allowed a month supply which cost $18.

They Don’t Know What They’re Doing
I was transferred to Twentyeight Health from the Pill Club in 2023. They refilled my pill prescription the first time without issue so I kept it on auto-refill as I had for years before. This year, I check my account, there’s a delivery date on my account. I just need to “visit with a doctor,” which is literally just you filling out an online questionnaire that takes 5 minutes. If you’re on Medicaid, your copay for this questionnaire is $26 by the way.
Anyway, I do this, and week later, the DAY BEFORE my delivery date on my account, I receive an email saying they have no providers that take my insurance and therefore I’m not getting my birth control. What?? My account has a message from my “doctor” saying she prescribed me Plan B and condoms in case there’s any delay? Also what?? I never spoke with my doctor at all and she’s just gonna send me Plan B without my consent? Also I was charged for a visit that didn’t happen. I was charged for a questionnaire. I emailed their customer service about this, and they responded with an obvious email template back to me saying I could pay out of pocket or go to my local pharmacy. How do I know it was template? They left the blank spaces where you’re supposed to personalize the email empty.
There’s a reason I’m using an online service, this is why I don’t go to a pharmacy. There’s a reason I’m on Medicaid, this is why I don’t pay out of pocket.
Anyway, their reasoning for this is that they don’t know if insurance will cover it until after they submit your insurance to their pharmacy. This is true, I used to work at a doctors office. However, we checked peoples insurance BEFORE they received their service. I am so SO confused how they didn’t know that a single provider with their company didn’t accept Medicaid in advance.
Besides that, there were several other issues during communication. First they tell me my birth control brand is Debilitane, then they send the same exact email a second time, and now my birth control brand in Sprintec, which is conveniently $6 cheaper. No, actually, I get a third email saying my BIN number on my insurance might be incorrect. Which is it? What’s happening? At this point I haven’t had birth control in two weeks.
Angelique processed my refund quickly. She was nice. Other than that, this company needs a serious overhaul. It’s really sad what they put their costumers through, AND what they put their costumer service through. No one deserves that.

Hi Kaitlyn,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am so sorry to hear that you were having issues with your Medicaid insurance. Insurance companies (specifically Medicaid plans) make it incredibly hard for doctors to enroll or to know if they are enrolled successfully in various plans.
I have reached out to you via Trustpilot for more information so that I can look further into this for you!

Completely Unsatisfactory Service
I was a previous member of The Pill Club, which was a wonderful company that delivered my birth control to me in a timely manner along with cute goodies that elevated the experience. The Pill Club was bought out by Twentyeight Health in June of 2023 and was supposed to continue my care soon after. Months went by and even after filling out their extensive paperwork and meeting with one of their N.P.s, I still had not received my birth control. I reached out multiple times to get them to mail me my birth control and they told me they would but never did. I became desperate and learned that there was an option to have them send it to my local pharmacy. Three more times I waited for them to mail me my medication as they said they would and three more times I ended up having them send it to my pharmacy. I eventually gave up and have them send it to my pharmacy every month as I know that I cannot rely on them to do the one job they're supposed to do. The stress that they caused me along with the toll that going on and off birth control took on my body was enough for me to call it quits. I would never recommend this service to anyone and I grieve for the service I lost when The Pill Club was acquired by Twentyeight Health.
