My husband and my mom had travelers…
My husband and my mom had travelers insurance on their shared truck, my mom passed away and I called to cancel the insurance because they quoted the both of them $78 a month for insurance, then when it came time to have the actual policy it went to 133 a month for just him and the truck (mom was an excluded driver), I called the first time to talk over the options, when the staff lady told me that the department would not make a waver because certain things changed from the quote to the actual coverage, but couldn't specify. I told her this wasn't going to work for us and we needed to cancel. I got off the phone, got another insurance company to pick him and the truck up, insured them, and then called back in the same night to cancel the travelers. First, I spoke to a lady who was less than nice. She said (contradictorily) that I could make changes to the policy, but NOT cancel the policy, and they would first need to speak to my mom..... I explained that she had passed, well then that led to being told I would have to have executive paperwork saying I could make that change? Then when I explained I didn't have that kind of paperwork I was sent to another department, the guy who got the call was OK he was nice enough, said all I had to do was sign a paper AND provide proof that the vehicle was covered with a different insurance company, ( something that their website contradicts, stating you don't have to show proof, but that you shouldn't drive without insurance) Which oh let's talk about the online portal that's programmed to NOT ALLOW you to cancel a policy online without calling in!!! So I got the paperwork at 6 pm last night, signed it, and sent in the proof and the signature page, then I got an email today saying they can't accept the Proof document because someone's name is mismatched on it, and they need more proof. I called in again, 3rd time. Told the lady who answered that I didn't know if we needed to get a SUPERVISOR involved but I felt that Travelers at this point was playing around with me and was trying to not cancel the policy, so then I get transferred back to the folks I talked to last night, got a different guy, thankfully he sort of did his job, at first he was acting like he needed more paperwork and when I told him I fulfilled what they asked of me and just wanted to cancel the insurance he said well the policy document you have only shows the start date not an end date, to which I replied does it matter you asked for proof of insurance and I got it last night, so I had to wait for him to decide that was good enough to proof the trucks insured just to get the policy cancelled....... 0/10 would not recommend, when you tell a company someone has died, the last thing the family wants to do with you is argue about whether you get to keep charging the dead family members living relatives for a product you upcharged in the first place and couldn't explain how or why.
