Don’t use Trashie if you live in an area that doesn’t have Fed Ex Easy Returns, which is now the only shipping return they offer. They told me to drive an hour. The CEO was involved in this so this type of customer service is coming from the very top!

Hi Carolin, thank you for sharing your feedback. We know convenient return options are especially important for customers who don’t have an eligible FedEx Easy Returns location nearby.
Our Customer Service Manager followed up with you directly and was able to find a solution for your remaining Take Back Bags. We’re also actively working to bring additional return options online very soon, so the current Easy Returns QR code process is not intended to be the only option going forward.
We appreciate your patience while we worked with you to find an alternative and your feedback as we continue improving the return experience.

Good at first , progressively terrible !
When the company first started it was easy to ship bags back. I’ve been using them for a year now and they’ve progressively gotten worse. For starters, it was simple dropping off bags at UPS or FedEx , then they started charging for drop offs at these locations. As if we aren’t already paying for the bags to be sent to our homes. Then they started working with drop off locations that are no longer convenient. It was good while it lasted but I wouldn’t work with this company.

Hi Dom, thank you for sharing your feedback. Our return carrier network has recently transitioned, which means the shipping and drop-off options available may differ from those you’ve used with Trashie in the past. We’re actively working to expand our return options to provide customers with more flexibility.
We really appreciate you using Trashie over the past year and supporting our mission to keep textiles out of landfills.

Scammed out of $200
I had spent $200+ on Take Back Bags, and had "$300" in trashCash that i was supposedly able to redeem for that amount in USD. One day, WITHOUT WARNING, they say their new system has taken my $300 and it's not work $17. This new Trashie is a scam
Response from TrashieAug 5, 2026
Hi Samara, thank you for your feedback. Trashie is a recycling and donation service designed to keep clothing, shoes, linens, and other textiles out of landfills. Unlike resale or consignment, items aren't assessed or paid out based on their resale value.
TrashieCash is an added reward for participating and isn't intended to reimburse the cost of the service dollar-for-dollar. We understand that expectations around rewards can vary, and we appreciate your feedback as we continue working to make the program as clear as possible.

Great mission scammy rewards
The mission of this company is great, however, I have never been able to successfully use rewards I've redeemed. I've tried asking trashie support for help so that I can understand the additional details and conditions which are not available before you redeem the rewards (like "can use on this but not on that" detail which is not made available on trashie or retailer site BEFORE you redeem), however, I have been told "bad luck" and that the redemptions are permanent. It's very nice that they recycle the garments and fabrics. Very nice, but very scummy to be offered and given rewards that are useless after hours of trying and asking for support.

Hi Sally-anne, thanks for your honest feedback—we really value insights like this as we continue to improve.
We’re actively working to improve how reward details are displayed before redemption, including clearer terms and more flexibility. We know it’s frustrating to use points on something that doesn’t work as expected, and that’s not the experience we want for anyone.
That said, we’d be totally happy to re-add the TrashieCash you used on any rewards you weren’t able to redeem. Just reach out to our support team with the details, and we’ll take care of it.
We’re proud to offer a service that ensures everything you send is properly recycled—not dumped or wishcycled—and we’ll keep working to make the rewards side just as solid. Thanks for being part of the mission.

good for recycling...and wasting your money
First, the positives: If Trashie's socials are to be believed, they seem to have a good system for recycling. It is satisfying to keep used textiles out of a landfill. The system is easy to use. I also have to give their customer service a shoutout. I earned some "free" Trashie Cash browsing sites they suggested, but I never actually received the payout. Not sure if my fault or the site's, but I told customer service and they credited me right away.
Now, the negatives. Trashie boasts gift cards and rewards you can trade Trashie Cash for. These are limited, at best, and a straight up scam, at worst. When gift cards are listed (very very rarely), they sell out in literal minutes. I was able to secure one Columbia gift card, which was great, but I haven't seen gift cards listed in several months. The "rewards" are BS and are promos you can find anywhere like RetailMeNot etc. Not to mention, the websites are so random. Nothing I would normally buy. Trashie claimed they were opening a consignment store where you can use your cash and they never did. I'm stuck with $52 "Trashie cash" I doubt I'll ever be able to use. Not impressed.

Hi Chelsea, thanks so much for your honest and thoughtful feedback—it really helps guide where we go next. We’re glad to hear the recycling process has been smooth and that our support team was able to help quickly!
You’re absolutely right that some of the most popular gift cards (like Columbia and Nike) have gone fast in the past. But we’ve recently started adding a ton of new gift card options to our site, and we’re working hard to keep those stocked more consistently. If you’re not seeing them when logged into your account, please reach out to our team—we’re happy to help troubleshoot or guide you to what’s available.
Also, we hear you on the reward types and site selection—improving the quality, variety, and overall experience is a major focus for us right now. And if you redeemed any TrashieCash on rewards you weren’t able to use, we’d be more than happy to re-add that to your account. Just send our support team the details.
Thank you again for being part of the movement to keep clothing and textiles out of landfills—we really appreciate your continued support!

Good concept, but rewards are VERY flawed
I wish I would have read real reviews before buying a pack of Trashie bags. I think the concept of being able to easily recycle clothes, shoes etc is SO needed. The problem for me is their pitch that you can get rewards by doing so. The rewards they offer are mostly for first time customers of a specific store/company, and many are rewards you could get on your own as a first time customer. I would consider buying the bags again just to get rid of things I no longer need but cannot donate, but I don't like the deceptive marketing of the crappy rewards.

We really appreciate you sharing this. You’re totally right—recycling should be easy and honest, and we hear you on the frustration around the rewards. We’re still a growing company, and feedback like yours helps us keep improving. While we do offer some exclusive rewards, we know it’s not perfect and we’re actively working to bring more value and transparency to the program. Thanks again for calling this out—it truly helps.

Years of cash banked and cant spend it…
Years of cash banked and cant spend it because I dont want to shop more! What is the use of recycling if all you are doing is pushing us to consume and buy more!?! The rewards suck and are completely useless. I started when the company was just For Days and now Trashie explains the company. I want my hundreds of dollars back!
Response from TrashieMar 13, 2025
Hi Thalia, we hear you, and we really appreciate your feedback. Our goal has always been to make textile recycling easy and rewarding, and we know the rewards system isn’t a perfect fit for everyone. We’re actively working on expanding our reward options to make them more valuable and accessible. If you’d like, we’d be happy to help you find rewards that might work better for you—just reach out, and we can walk you through it. Thanks for being part of this journey with us!

Using rewards
Getting the Trashie bags and mailing them was so easy that's for the 2 stars. But using the rewards has been a nightmare. I used the Lowes reward and clicked on the link bought some items but my rewards does not show I used it. When I check on my account it shows my Lowes award but doesn't show I have used it. I have called twice to resolve the issue but I do not get a clear answer. It's been over a month now. Paying for bags and getting no real solution for rewards has turned me off of Trashie.
Response from TrashieMar 10, 2025
Hi John, we’re really sorry for the frustration with your reward tracking. Right now, our system isn’t able to sync with other companies’ websites to see when a discount or gift card has been used, but we’re actively working on a solution for this. In the meantime, there’s an option on our website where you can manually mark a reward as used. If you’re still running into issues, please reach out—we’d be happy to help! We really appreciate your feedback and your support of our mission.
