My fuel pump had cracks in it and caused a check engine light that would also cause the car to not pass smog . Toco said it wasn’t fully broken so it couldn’t be covered . Yet … wouldn’t pass smog due to the cracks. Something causing a car to not pass smog would for sure be a complete failure in my opinion … so I had to cancel my contract .

Thank you for sharing your experience. Toco understands how frustrating it can be when a vehicle is experiencing a problem that affects drivability or emissions compliance. Vehicle service contracts are designed to cover the failure of covered components as defined by the terms and conditions of the agreement. During the claims process, Toco relies on the repair facility's diagnosis and supporting documentation to determine whether a covered mechanical breakdown has occurred. The presence of wear, deterioration, or a condition that has not yet resulted in the failure of the component may not meet the contract's definition of a covered breakdown, even when the condition contributes to a check engine light or emissions-related concern. Toco recognizes that reasonable people may have differing views on when a component should be considered failed, and we understand your disappointment with the outcome. While Toco regrets that the determination did not meet your expectations and that you chose to cancel your coverage, we appreciate the opportunity to have served you and thank you for sharing your feedback.
