Don’t Respond to Reviews Pretending You Want to Help If You’re Just Going to Double Down
I’m writing a second review because Thriveworks’ response to my original Trustpilot review somehow made this experience even WORSE!!!!! After I posted my original review about being charged a $135 late cancellation fee because I became unexpectedly ill, Thriveworks publicly responded that they were sorry to hear what happened. They specifically acknowledged that I was charged for “an illness you couldn’t have predicted” and said that, especially after I had been told my situation deserved a closer look, my frustration was understandable. They then asked me to email their Success Team with my information and a description of what happened so they could “look into this further.” So I did……. I took additional time to write another detailed email explaining the situation, the documented illness, and exactly what I was requesting: reconsideration and a refund of the $135 fee. And what did I get back? An explanation of their 48-hour cancellation policy, as though I wasn’t aware!!!!! The policy was literally the reason for my original complaint. When I responded and pointed out that they had completely avoided answering my actual request, I specifically asked them to give me a direct answer: Was Thriveworks going to reconsider and refund the $135 fee due to my documented, unexpected illness? They finally answered: No. The fee will stand and cannot be refunded. Then, unbelievably, they proceeded to explain the 48-hour cancellation policy to me AGAIN, including why they changed the policy in 2023 and how they believe it provides clients with “ample flexibility.” What was the point of publicly asking me to contact you so you could “look into this further” if there was apparently nothing to look into? If the answer was always going to be, “The policy is the policy and the fee stands,” you could have said that in your public response. Instead, your response gave the appearance that you were concerned about what happened and that contacting you might lead to an actual review of my individual circumstances. Also, telling a dissatisfied client that you are available if they need a space to “vent any frustrations” is not customer service. I wasn’t contacting Thriveworks because I needed somewhere to vent. I contacted you because your company asked me to contact you so you could look into my situation further. There is a difference between hearing a customer’s issue and resolving it! At this point, I have canceled all of my remaining sessions with my therapist and will not use Thriveworks again. You shall not get another red cent from me!!!!!! If you respond publicly to negative reviews inviting customers to contact you for further assistance, there should be a genuine purpose behind that invitation. Otherwise, it feels like reputation management rather than customer service. Thriveworks, Riley R. (The Account Supervisor) didn’t resolve my complaint. She reinforced it!!! Your 1-star stands valid!!!!

Hi Tiffanie, you're right that our earlier response suggested there was more we could do, and that's not how things turned out. We're sorry that added to your frustration. We appreciate you being so direct with us, and we wish you the best as you continue your care.
