In this COVID era, payment booths are closed and you need an appropriate E-Z pass to get through. I was driving long distance and didn't know this, and Thrifty did not tell me or rent a unit. I had a relatively small amount of monies owed but Thrifty charged $75 in administrative dees - that's egregious. I will NEVER rent from THrifty again, especially knowing their overall poor rating!

For me, it was fast and easy: booking with wisecars, p/u car (got an upgrade from N. sentra to T. highlander for a more than reasonable price), great new spacious car; fast and competent service in and out, full tank of gas for my long trip, did about 600 miles in one week, easy and fast return; but hey, that’s how it goes in NYC :) :) time is money no fuss no muss!

Booked a rental car for 2 weeks for my family vacation in Spartanburg SC. Thrifty Car Rental is not located at the airport. Had to wait 20 minutes for a shuttle. Upon arrival, I was told I could not rent a car because clerk could not scan my driver's license. I asked why not photo copy my DL, and was told I could not rent a car. I have to get them to take me back to the airport and book another rental car with someone else.

My mom has rented through thrifty for over a decade with her same blue chip member i.d debt card, never had an accident or ticket or any type of damage fees for any reason. Just recently Thrifty had started making so many changes-- which is fine right change is good. One thing I've learned in business customer loyatly is everything, it's the foundation of a successful business, these people are key elements to keep running successfully. With that being said if a loyal customer is following all real and guidelines, why give them a hard time on new rules or small mishaps that they normally give no trouble to. Besides the VERY RUDE management at the airport location every toll free number i called was not helpful. As I stated we have never had issue to have to call so this was a first, and I can not explain my frustrations enough. Not only was I hung on twice I had to tell my story to 6 people before they handed the call to a "superior" who got on the phone and literally repeated the same thing several times. No one cared about our experience and no one was willing to investigate and help my mom out, and this bothered me bad because my mom is a nurse with Lupus who literally gives all kinds of help and her being a loyal customer for so many years it was upsetting to see that she meant nothing to this company and that there is apparently no one in charge to handle miscommunication or misconduct situations because every person who came to the phone including the "superior" was not authorize to do anything but deny. In all ends my mom is eating up a $300 negative payment on her bank during a worldwide pandemic, and for a reason that in fact is not true. I would not recommend Thrifty to a cow with a license because on the off chances there is a situation they are not a company of reason or understanding and could care less about your loyalty to them.

Zero signage at the counter or car pick up to indicate that Hertz is actually managing all the rentals for Thrifty. How are customers supposed to know to go to the Hertz counter and not Thrifty if there are no employees or signs to tell them? Started my rental 30 minutes late just trying to find a human to check me in. Also the car provided smelled terrible. Booking number: 22719238

I can't say enough how much I dislike Thrifty. My car was great, the ease of picking it up was wonderful, then wham the return. Read the reviews and trust the negative ones. There is truth in what they say and it is company wide. If I could give them a big negative 100 stars, I would! I have been telling my experience to anyone who will listen and I have a very, wide circle of friends. I truly feel sorry for the customer service people. Their job must be tough, because all of the complaints and they seem not have the power to do anything about it. I've rented many cars in the past, never have I had such as HORRIBLE experience. I wish I used enterprise instead! I thought I was going to save money, but using Thrifty cost me so much more than I would have spent there. Never, ever again.

first thoughts were - drinks, change and trash left in rental car. not Bad but not Good. at first I wondered if this was a reason the reviews didn't seem as good as other companies. Then I receive a bill in the mail for tolls. Which is fine- I expected that but not the $15 administrative fee/toll!!!! My 2 day car rental was $66. my toll fees were $60!!!!!! the desk employee never mentioned this after they finally turned the lights on and stopped chit chatting with coworkers to wait on me. I will never rent from thrifty again thinking they're a few dollars cheaper than the other companies.
