Rebecca who checked me in was the only staff member that seemed to care. She was so nice and informative. Once I entered into the detox center I could not believe the attitudes of the employees. I was just there for a five day detox. We had meditation twice. The rest of the time you just did whatever you wanted, sleep, walk around or go out and smoke. No structure was so ever. The food was disgusting. I resorted to eating pbj sandwiches for dinner . The breakfasts were uneatable and the only good thing at lunch was a salad. I will never recommend this facility to anyone. They just want your money and don't pay any attention to your addiction or try to help you to recovery.

Misleading
The marketing and claims made by The Recovery Village are false and misleading. From the food to the accommodations, and the activities, all are false and misleading.

Billing and intake a horrible experience
Intake was an awful experience. Florida agent assured that we had a bed available and we arrived to a full institution. Also, agent did not inform us that she wouldn't be admitted if blood alcohol level exceeded a certain level so they sent us to hospital for detoxification.

Do not go here!!!
Let me start by saying I am a professional educated woman in my 40s. I went here because they promised me many things- individual therapy, massage, acupuncture, equine therapy, and a "professional program." Most importantly, they told me on the phone that my HR paperwork would be filled out in a way so my work wouldn't know the exact nature why I was here as I work in a sensitive environment where I could loose my job for drug use. Needless to say, I received NONE of these things. I was told day two while still detoxing and feeling horrible they had to put my diagnosis on my paperwork. As you may have read in other reviews, there is NO acupuncture, massage therapy, or equine therapy. OK, I was a little annoyed by this as I feel this isn't what is going to help my recovery the most, but the main problem is you will barely see your therapist while here as they are completely overworked. I saw my therapist twice in 27 days, that's it. When I complained about this, I was told the promises to see a therapist twice a week are "only a guide" and that "individual therapy isn't really helpful, it's what you learn in groups." Bottom line, they will promise you anything on the phone, then once you are there they treat you without respect, and basically hold you hostage by saying they will tell your work if you leave (my true story) or your insurance won't cover your stay if you leave without completion and you will have to pay. You are another dollar sign to these people. Case in point, some patients there with insurance that didn't pay as well who obviously weren't doing the work (i.e. never went to a single group) flew through the program, while those of us with good insurance who went to every group were told we would be there for at least another month. The way this place is run has serious flaws. I won't even get into the annoying details of how horrible and un-nutritious the meals were, the rooms not having any hangers, the facility constantly running out of towels, etc. I actually still have nightmares about this place. The only good thing I can say is that I am still sober, and I met some amazing people here (other patients) and in the end learned more from them than any of the counselors or staff. Do your self a favor and keep looking for other facilities where they will treat you with respect and as a human being and not another dollar sign.

Bad Recovery experience
During my stay at recovery village, my diabetes became the focus and not my recovery. The medical director felt that she could manage my diabetes than me under the direction of my diabetic physician. It got to the point where I couldn't even give myself my insulin in an appropriate fashion. As a type 1 diabetic, this is very upsetting. In addition, some of the "therapists" I felt performed their duties in an inappropriate manner. Putting patients on the spot, using patients to trigger or get someone to "open up" when they were hurting that person. All and all I would never refer anyone to this facility. I feel that medically, I shouldn't have been put in the position I was, where I couldn't consult with my physician, and whenever my doctors office called to help consult about my situation they were "refused".
In summation, I do not feel like I "recovered" here. I was simply in a bubble where I couldn't drink.

Horrible place!
There for more than eight different things I was told in order to get me down there. None of them ended up being true. For example, there was a five-star chef. That was not true. I was told I would see my therapist 4 times a week. That was not true. I was told we would have yoga and massages. That was not true. I was told we would have Equine Therapy. That was also not true and the list goes on. They say that in order to persuade people to get there, and it is deceitful. We were locked in when its already tough enough to be sober, and the medical and clinical staff are sub par.
There was a boy who overdosed and died in the treatment center while we were there in treatment and it was a horrible experience.
I understand that treatment centers are also a business, but this one is a perfect example. It is simply about the money and they don't care. There are a few that therapist there who do care but overall I would recommend going somewhere else.

Big mistake
Insurance denied the claim because the documentation provided did not support what was billed. I agree. All this facility cares about is money and I was charged for many services that did not occur. Non of the amenities boasted by the admission liars... were offered. The bed I was provided upon arrival had been peed on, the staff didn't care and I ended up having to flip it. I also had no clean bed sheets and was told I'd have to wait a couple days to get clean bed sheets because it was women's laundry day not men's. How is it possible that a new admission is not provided with new bed sheets.

Go elsewhere.
Co-ed not controlled.
Husband woke up the first night with the roommate hand up his leg. He was terrified.
He was uncomfortable that female nurses check him in with all 'pockets' checked.
Too many smoke breaks. Should offer nicotine therapy instead.
Massages given if you can afford them.
A couple of very good clinicians.
To me this facility focuses more in keeping a clean appearance than their 'clients' as patients are called.
Inappropriate co-ed contact was reported on field trip while my loved one was there.
