TherapyNotes is a very user friendly electronic health record system that has been thoughtfully designed for mental health clinicians. Having used several different EHR systems throughout the years at different agencies, I can truly appreciate the ease of this operational system, as well as the super supportive staff if I have any questions. I am so happy that I decided to go with TherapyNotes when I began my private practice!

I can fully recommend therapy notes from a clinical perspective. Several problems exist administratively for a large practice. 1. Individual clinicians cannot see the entire payment record and must get a administrator to print the payment file. There appears to be no plans to make this available. 2. For practices that pay their clinicians as a percentage of gross a significant problem exist. If a client pays in advance each payment must be reworked during each pay period until the prepayment is completed. If this is not done the revenue generated does not show up in the revenue report which is necessary for the clinician to be adequately paid. The system necessary to manage this is prone to error on the part of the person doing the recalculations as they are done manually.3. Individual clinicians cannot run a revenue report for the income that they generate. This prevents them from checking accuracy of postings for the pay period. 4. The revenue report does not clearly identify the amount posted for that pay period. Each line item needs to be researched to identify the amount posted. 5. There is no total listed on the revenue report.

1) Every user can be given full biller access, or limited biller access. It's up to the practice. We do have plans to add more options for this. It's unclear where your information came form indicating our future plans. 2) If an amount isn't assigned to a charge, we don't know what clinician to assign it to, so we can't show it in the revenue report for that clinician. If you assign it to a future appointment, then it will work for you. We do have a column that shows unallocated payments. 3) If you want clinicians to have access to the revenue report then you can give them Biller access. We will be adding a future setting to allow clinicians more billing access limited to their own clients. 4) I'm not sure what you mean by this, but we do have a pending update that will make it easier to drill down and see what payments resulted in revenue, instead of what charges. 5) There is absolutely a Total on the Revenue report. Please contact support for further assistance. In the future please forward suggestions to us directly. This is not the best forum for that. I'm sorry we earned such a low score form you. Hopefully with future updates we'll address your concerns.

I have highly recomennded Therapy notes to so many friends. I am by nature not the most organized paper work person! Therapy notes has helped me significantly with some of the nightmares I create with my disorganization. I am sure I am collecting much more from insurance companies than in the past because of this. The staff at Therapy Notes is very patient and always helpful no matter how confused I get. They also make the process make sense so I understand and don't often need to continue to make similar errors!

...might consider a 5 star review if; 1) the program allowed users to itemize or otherwise customize patient statements (showing amounts billed, write-offs, insurance payments, amounts due/expected from insurance and patients); 2) the program allowed specification of insurance adjustments (write-offs vs co-pays vs coinsurance vs deductible amounts); or even if 3) Therapy Notes support would have responded to these submitted requests with a simple acknowledgement that they were received and being considered.

Therapy Notes is designed by and for mental health. Used another that was more for medical and it was just too difficult to keep working. Love the ease of use, responsiveness to updates and the forum help.
