Cats: 8yr old Onery Female & 10mo old Baby Boy; Almost and with Hope for Peace!
Scene: Onery 8yr old female cat (Lynxles) and playful 10mo old male cat (Data). Data came to our family 8months ago. Such a sweet loving playful baby just wanting to figure out life. Sadly, our third and most loving male cat of 13yrs (SamWise) at the time passed away suddenly with lung cancer after showing Data much love, play, and protection from Lynxles for the short two months that he had with him ☹. Note, Lynxles kind of tolerated SamWise after the couple years that we had him. But honestly, Lynxles likes no other cat, never has, and reminds us often that she should have been the single pet throughout our fostering life and bringing others into our house… Once SamWise was gone, all Data wanted was love and play and continued to try every second of every day with Lynxles-thus beginning the daily non-stop battles. Data, still just a baby and not understanding. Lynxles even started to hold her urine for days and was diagnosed with crystals because of it-although I believe I’ve been lucky that she continued to relieve herself in a litter box (only once I found urine outside the box) but only because at night we had to keep Data locked up in the cat room for his safety. I’ve done it all. Diffusers, collars, sprays, calming treats, pet psychic (don’t judge) and we even got Lynxels on fluoxetine. I’ve had so many doubts and cried about having to find Data a better home so many times. But I’m determined to do whatever it takes. Data also never really grew out of his biting/scratching arms and legs phase-well, not yet anyway. We even started taking him to get other cat interaction at the cat hotel and his most loved toys are a stuffed animal and that new Karate Kitty we use to rough house with. But now that Data is neutered and much bigger, he’s pursuing Lynxles more and the fights have gotten much worse. I’m so afraid that he’s really picking up and matching Lynxles’ behavior. Product: Now, I’m not saying it’s the best thing ever, nor is it magical. But I will say that I have noticed a difference. Pros: We no longer lock Data in the cat room at nights and Lynxles is playing again, hanging out with us more, using the bathroom more regularly, and I witnessed a couple of times where both cats were on the couch as Data reaching out as far as he could so he could touch Lynxles while she was sleeping (I wish I could submit the photo)! Both cats have been a bit more loveable and calm/sleepy too, which is nice as I work from home-so I witness it around the clock! Sometimes they both even sleep on our bed at night. Another Pro I must mention is the amount of customer service I got through all the emails along the way during my first month! I wanted to start the chain just in case things didn’t work out, but I got some great support and ideas to help Data and Lynxles along the way and that to me was special! Cons: There are still daily battles, hissing, yowling, standoffs, bullying each other during bathroom breaks. Even our dog will try to stand in the middle of them at times to break it up! But, Lynxles (knock on wood) hasn’t really hurt Data. Maybe just a couple claw punctured wounds on his face, but nothing really serious. But Data really is persistent and determined that he will break Lynxles barrier! The only other major Con I must note, is the smell. I’m super sensitive and the smell to me is like cooking oil-very gross. I’ve followed all directions, plugged into a direct outlet, and tried a couple different areas across the room. It also is a bit leaky. Note, our house is quite small. Oh, and shipping took a bit to get to us here in Alaska. Now, here is the part where I decided to continue this method. After month 1, I waited a few days before plugging in the second diffuser, and the cats went super awful! So I plugged it in and after a couple days, it’s almost livable again. So, I jumped on and bought six more months worth! I’m going to put another plugin up in the cat room just to see… Time and patience, I hope, is all that it takes for these two. I don’t ever think I’ll see them cuddling together or licking each other like how it was with SamWise, but I’m hoping that Lynxles will become a bit more patient with this new baby of ours. And at the same time, our new baby not turn out like Lynxles 😉 I hope this review helps. I promise, this is a real review, I’m a real buyer, and my cats (& I) are not robots 😉.. I understand that any situation could be worse, but for our family, we still have hope about this product. Best of luck to you and your fur babies!
