Go for it
I have been vegan for about 13 years. In that time, my weight has gone up and down in about a 40lb range due to having kids, focusing on a new job search, etc. All the little things that throw us off plan here and there. Over the past 2 years I really began to notice that my typical healthy diet (Starch Solution/Nutritarian) just wasn't cutting it. I wasn't hitting my goals, and I found that my body was just responding in a totally different way than it ever had before. Being a big reader, I started learning about people like Dr. Mary Claire Haver, Dr. Stacy Sims and others like them that explained that as we enter our peri-menopause years, we have to change our thinking when it comes to diet and exercise. I tried to follow their advice and for the most part was nailing the exercise part. I lift heavy which brings me a lot of joy and do a bit of cardio, which does not. Nutrition was stumping me though. I couldn't quite grasp how to hit my protein goal without massively going over calories. I was struggling and just kept gaining weight. It was the Instagram algorithm that put Rose and Plant Life Chose Us in my path. I scrolled by for months because I have never once posted a thing to Instagram and rarely interact with anyone on there. I don't even remember the particular ad that finally got my attention, but I sent a message, had a conversation and eventually decided to sign up. I was all in and ready go and on my very first official day of the program, my husband had a stroke. There was a huge part of me that wanted to send a message to my coach, Sara and ask if I could bow out. There was just no way I could possibly follow through with making selfish life changes at that time. Instead, I messaged Sara, and she encouraged me to just do what I could. I went from lifting weights 5 times a week for 45 mins with 2-3 days of cardio and barely any steps, to maybe 20 mins of weights a day and really focusing on hitting a step goal of 6k. I had my menus which took all the thinking out for me as well as the "mush" bowl recipe ideas Rose gives using packaged foods. Normally, I do cook everything from scratch so that I can really control what ingredients go into everything, but that was just not going to happen with the new schedule I had. The packaged foods have been a huge part in my staying on track. I started the beginning of Nov at 168lbs and am currently at 150lbs in about 4 months. I'd still like to lose another 10-15 lbs, but I feel like I have all the tools to do that. I've learned how to adjust my food to hit my macro goals and stay within my calorie goal. I learned new ways to prioritize movement in my day. I've come to realize that I don't need to punish myself if I'm not 100% all the time. One thing Sara pointed out to me early on when I didn't feel like exercising but did it anyway, is that is me showing discipline. I don't know why it didn't occur to me before, but sometimes you need someone to point out the obvious for you. And that may be one of the most valuable tools of this program. Having someone at your back consistently supporting you and calling you out when necessary is an absolute blessing. I highly recommend this program. It is pricey, but you are worth it. And you are not selfish for giving yourself this gift.

Thank you for sharing this. You showed up with grace, flexibility, and a willingness to do what you could, and that’s exactly what progress looks like. I’m so proud of how far you’ve come—not just in your results, but in how you speak to yourself, care for yourself, and trust your body again. It’s been an honor to support you. You are worth this, and I’m so glad you chose you.
