My husband Shawn Segars is out with an ankle injury for 6 plus wk, the company decided that he should have had a follow up appointment before the actual appointment so they closed his claim. My question is since when did they become a medical doctor to say that he should have seen the doctor before his appointment? My question to them was the exact same thing how do you determine when patients should see the doctor again after they already have a follow up appointment? So long story short they decide when you should see the doctor not the doctor not the medical professional they say when they think that you should see the doctor how is this legal then they turn around and close the case because you’ve not seen the doctor when they want you to see one. You people are not medical professionals, medical professionals make a decision when you go back not your company.

Absolute worst customer service on the planet. First off, it takes forever to speak to someone. Then once connected they put me on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on me. Then I go back through the callback process all over again, the guy verifies that I have towing coverage then sends me a link to contact towing. When I finally get a call from them they want to charge me $400 to dispatch a driver. Since I have AAA I have them tow the car. Now I imagine it will be a complete nightmare going through the claims process. I will be cancelling this policy once the car is repaired and go back to Geico who provided excellent customer service in the past. I will be moving all my cars and house insurance away from Hartford, they are HORRIBLE!!

Had auto insurance with The Hartford for over a year now bundled with our home owners insurance. Paid in full every 6 months. Thought I was on autopay. Then, just found out it was cancelled over 3 weeks ago due to non payment. No text message, call, email or mail from The Hartford notifying us of the cancellation. The is no relationship with The Hartford, customer service is slow and everything you expect from an insurance company is simply not there.

What went wrong? - delayed STD payments, then demands to pay back a certain amount, no proof sent, and finally sent to collections. Still no definitive proof. In August 2024 company put me on disability automatically due to case of Shingles that hit my face, almost losing my eyesight in one eye. Returned to work late Sept/early Oct because could not afford to be out anymore. This was all during and immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene in East TN. Hartford asked for info repeatedly, doctors sent it repeatedly and finally received first payments. Then very long delay until received final payment. Then laid off from job for some trumped up reason that I disproved and collected unemployment. Very long process to get money and repeated requests to send records already sent. Here it comes! About a month later, get phone calls and texts from Hartford claiming they overpaid $$ and demanding immediate payment. I gave repeated requests to send proof, but never received anything. Finally sent to collections the first of the year. I contacted the agency, stated I did not owe, and I need some backup of what I supposedly owed. Agency sent me a letter stating the company said they had proof and then attached, surprise! - copies of two letters supposed sent by Hartford to me. Letters looked like actually written just recently. Funny thing - in one letter they stated the date I owed for it and then in same sentence said I only owed for payments beyond that date! I replied to agency I did not owe per Hartford's own words. What will the reply be now? Will another supposed letter from Hartford suddenly appear? Also, I stated in reply that a complaint will be filed with the Tennessee Board of Insurance about Hartford. I was forced to deal with them through my company at time. If your company uses them would encourage them to seek another firm.

We received a bill for $96.68. We told the Hartford telephone agent in January, 2025, we would cancel at the end of the billing cycle since we had coverage with the new Insurance company, Progressive. We have been paying, I found out, a very unreasonable amount. $134.00 per month vs the $35.00 dollars we are paying now, same coverage. Our personal records show NO tickets, 1 claim in the last 10+ years. for a dented trunk cover, and yet we were still paying a very high amount. We gave The Hartford sufficient notice of when to cancel, and I will not be paying anything further.

Bait and switch. After one year with a perfect driving record they increased my premiums by 40%. Ridiculous! And AARP is complicit.

Hartford does not honor their quotes. You fill out an extensive questionnaire only, they give you a quote and even ask for a payment method, only to call you and say that your quote is actually $300 higher. Purely misleading customers, and the sales rep on the phone Jacqueline Crockett horribly failed to explain why the quote increased, she just kept pushing for me to move forward with the higher quote. Horrible service.

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience with The Hartford Workers' Compensation insurance. Due to an error in their system — specifically with their ExactPay integration with QuickBooks Online — my client was double charged multiple times for their payroll, despite only running payroll once per period. What made this worse was their customer service response. Instead of taking responsibility or properly investigating the issue, The Hartford told my client that the error was caused on our end — when in fact, everything was done correctly from the accounting side. As accountants, we work hard to protect our clients' trust. Situations like this create unnecessary tension between businesses and their advisors. I hope The Hartford reviews their internal process and improves their customer service to avoid putting other small businesses in this frustrating situation.
