I wish I could give Hartford zero…
I wish I could give Hartford zero stars. We switched from an insurance company at the beginning of April to Hartford from a company we had been with for 18 years. When I requested a quote I disclosed, we had a pellet stove & pool. We started a policy with Hartford on May 9th. Shortly afterwards, Hartford sent out a person to take pictures of our home & property With no prior contact with us, on May 21st they issued a letter of cancellation due to things they felt were wrong with the pellet stove. They did not contact us to give us a chance to correct whatever was wrong with the pellet stove. In addition, cancelled our policy showing the cancellation date of 4/9 (the start date). They also contacted our mortgage company with the cancelation news. Needless to say, our mortgage company contacted us the day after we received the cancellation notice. We had no previous knowledge of the cancelation prior to 5/21. During this time (4/9 - 5/21), we had questionable weather with threats of tornados, and we had no clue we did not have home insurance. While their rates are good, if you have a pellet stove, please keep shopping. Honestly, even if you don't have a pellet stove, please keep shopping - who knows what they will cancel the next person for. Hartford does not care about their customers, only their pockets. The level of disgusts I feel right now is indescribable. They opened us up to possibility of bankruptcy if we had any loses during this unknow cancelation time. I checked the box below - any higher ups from Hartford can feel free to contact me to discuss this further.
