They charged me $156.00 that I was not expecting and they don't care.

I was watching the video then it stopped. Some sort of donation page showed up, I pledged to donate $5 to watch the video. It never started so I'm going to dispute the $5 donation charge with my credit card company.

Impossible to find the one movie I wanted to watch about near-death experiences. The screen kept freezing up, not allowing me to even read the few articles I had access to. Total Frustration!!!!!

Tried to read an article about scammers & couldn't get to view it without making a donation. Then when I made a modest donation I STILL couldn't read the entire thing. VERY NOT GOOD, PEOPLE!!

I attempted to get assistance accessing an article about a woman who was scammed for $500,000. The chatbot asked several unrelated questions that were irrelevant. After that it attempted to connect me with a technician for $2.00 to get help by phone or chatbot. Then another attempt wanted me to "subscribe for $65.00 a month or until I cancel." I now want to talk with a customer service representative. Why in the hell should I subscribe again when I am already paying $9.99 a month on the 17th of each month.

Yesterday, I saw a charge on my debit card for $156 from The Epoch Times, which I did not remember authorizing, and so immediately went to their website to cancel my subscription. All seemed to go well there until I saw that the cancellation date was NEXT YEAR. Thinking this was an error, I wrote to Customer Service. Their reply was that they I had not responded to a renewal notice they had sent last week. Somewhere among the dozen or so daily emails I get from them, in addition to myriads I get from others, there was supposedly a renewal reminder. I went back to search and, sure enough, there it was. One. Single. Reminder. They even went on to "apologize for any inconvenience caused by missing the email reminder." A $156 "Inconvenience" penalty for an email they acknowledged I might miss. They then had the gall to remind me that they have a No Refunds Policy in their Terms of Service to which I apparently agreed an entire year ago. Who remembers every detail of what they signed a year ago? I'm thinking that, if someone is going to take a good chunk of my dough a year from now, they might do me the courtesy of ensuring that I know about it THEN, not just that they made some passing attempt to tell me, such that my silence can be legally (mis)construed as consent according to their carefully crafted plan. Their policy should be OPT IN, like "Click here to renew at $156 for another year." Instead, they've intentionally chosen — by POLICY — to steal yet another customer for 1 year, versus earn a customer for life by doing what most would consider to be the right way to treat people, versus, "Tough rocks. You signed." To me, ET isn't merely unethical, but downright stupid. Someone needs to brush up on their Golden Eggs fable. (Can't wait for their perfumed legalese to follow.)
