I have mixed feelings about shopping at The Citizenry. On one hand, I genuinely love their products. The designs are beautiful, and I think the quality is excellent for the price.
So why the three stars? Because good luck figuring out when your order will actually arrive.
I genuinely don't understand how their e-commerce and logistics teams can be so misaligned that they cannot provide customers with a reliable delivery estimate. This is Inventory Management 101, and judging by other reviews, I'm certainly not the only customer experiencing this frustration.
For context, I ordered sheets on June 18th, with an estimated ship date of late July. We are now in mid-October and they still cannot tell me when my order will arrive.
I understand that supply chain delays happen, but there is a big difference between an unexpected delay and a complete lack of visibility into your own inventory and fulfillment timelines.
It's incredibly disappointing because I genuinely want to keep shopping here. But beautiful products only go so far when the customer experience is this unreliable.

Too many things have been out of stock…
Too many things have been out of stock for months. I’ve been trying to get a full set of towels for 6 months!

When I do receive the product they are…
When I do receive the product they are always top quality! But twice now I have had issues with orders where the item said it was in stock but then was not.
Both times I had to reach out myself to learn this. I'd appreciate updates without having to reach out when an order status changes like that. I'll probably order again but not for a bit.
Response from The CitizenryJul 6, 2026
Hi Jundy,
Thank you for sharing this. We’re so glad to hear you’ve been happy with the quality of the pieces you’ve received, but we’re really sorry the order experience has been frustrating.
You’re absolutely right that you shouldn’t have to reach out first to find out when something has changed with your order. That kind of update should be shared clearly, especially when availability changes after purchase, and we appreciate you calling this out.
We’ve shared your feedback with our team as we continue working to improve inventory visibility and order communication, and we’d love the chance to make your next experience a better one when you’re ready.

Slight nick in the wood
Slight nick in the wood, perhaps made during delivery. Communication needs to improve in terms of bring proactive with customers regarding delivery timeframe when there are delays.

Hi Rosie,
Thank you for sharing this feedback. We’re sorry your piece arrived with a nick in the wood, and we understand how frustrating that is after waiting for it to be delivered.
We also hear you on the delivery communication. When timelines shift, customers should not have to chase down updates, and we appreciate you calling that out.
That said, if there are any concerns with your order that still need to be addressed, please reach out to our Customer Experience team so they can take a closer look and help with next steps.

Skeptic on 100% Flax Linen
I have owned two sets of linen sheets over time. The first I splurged on from Restoration Hardware and loved them so much, that when they became threadbare I still kept them and tear them into rags to use around the house the fabric is so high quality (20 years before this happened). Then, I bought another pair from Target; yep, that was a mistake. Low quality and threadbare in a year. Now, I researched and found linen sheets on the citizenry with okeo-tek certification and stating very clearly that they are 100% flax linen loomed in an old traditional factory in portugal. However, since receiving the sheets I am shocked at the pilling? Linen pilling? When you wash the sheets there are clumps of what looks to be "cotton" stuck to the sheets. They may be flax linen; but they seem like they are a blend of flax AND cotton they was they wash and pill in the dryer. The price tag was high and I am afraid they are deceiving people about the true fabric content. Makes me very unhappy to have paid a high price for something that seems inauthentic.
Response from The CitizenryJun 2, 2026
Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to share this. We're truly sorry to hear that the sheets haven't lived up to what you were hoping for, especially after the time and care you put into choosing bedding that you intended to have for years to come.
Pilling or fabric buildup after washing isn't what you should be experiencing, and we completely understand why that would make you question the quality. When you invest in natural linen at this price point, it should feel as beautiful and trustworthy after the tenth wash as it did the first time.
That said, if you're open to it, please reach out to us at [email protected] with your order details and a few photos of what you're seeing. We'd love the chance to take a closer look and see what options may be available for your order.

It took forever, but finally, they did give a credit for a failed product.
EDIT on 5/7/26: Positive update and switching from 1-star to 3-stars, thanks to the Senior Customer Service Representative. They sent a $195 credit to cover the cost of a new fitted sheet. Unfortunately, it was out of stock, but they offered to track it for me and notify when it would be back in my color, which I really appreciated. I received the credit on May 1st, so shortly after my last update. I am hopeful that this is a positive move by the company to stand behind their products & service. It's unfortunate that it took this much back and forth to get a resolution, but I am pleased that it was resolved. Thank you for your time, The Citizenry. You kept a customer because of the final resolution & how your senior representative handled it. Thank you!
EDIT on 4/27/26: Well, as I somewhat expected their "reach out so we can review again" was a complete waste of time. I received an automated response that they'd answer in 1-2 business days and have not received anything since then. Really unfortunate. I would highly caution anyone from purchasing from this company based on this experience.
EDIT on 4/13/26: I have reached out to the email provided in The Citizenry's reply below & will update once I hear back or receive a resolution.
Original review: I'm extremely disappointed in The Citizenry, despite really loving the look of their products. I bought the Stone-washed Linen bedding set in Cal King in the Olive color and the Linen Duvet set in Sand Stripe. I purchased these in January 2025, but did not receive them until February 17, 2025. This was already past when they projected I would receive them and I had to follow up. My bill was $616.23 for these two items.
I did not put the sheets on my bed right when I received them. Fast forward to this year (less than a year on my bed) and I go to wash the sheets and notice a very thin spot where I can see through them. I washed them one more time and they ripped as soon as put back on my bed. I have followed washing and care instructions meticulously due to the cost of these items and the splurge to buy them.
I reached out to The Citizenry thinking that this must have been a manufacturing error as I've never had a pair of sheets wear out in less than a year. In fact, I've never previously worn out a pair of sheets. I received a prompt and dismissive response that they were unable to replace the sheets as it had been just over a year since the purchase and they offered a 15% discount code on FULL PRICE items instead. The fitted sheet is not even offered as a standalone product, if I even wanted to attempt to repurchase.
I responded & kindly asked that they stand behind their products due to the cost and replace only the fitted sheet as all other items were in good condition. I have not received a response since.
I am so saddened by this experience as I was saving to purchase more items from this company and now have to reconsider due to the lack of quality vs. cost. I would expect better customer service from a luxury home goods company.
As much as I love the look of the items on their site, I don't think I can spend that kind of money again if I can't trust the items to even last a year.

Hi Lauren,
We're truly sorry to hear that you weren't able to get this resolved with our team, and we've looped in Senior Leadership, who will reach out directly to learn more and get this sorted. We really appreciate your transparency and look forward to resolving this for you!
Hi Lauren,
Thank you for taking the time to share this. We’re really sorry to hear about your experience, and it’s especially disappointing when something you’ve invested in doesn’t hold up as expected.
We understand how frustrating it must have been to see that level of wear in under a year, particularly after following the care instructions, and we regret that the resolution offered didn’t feel sufficient. Your feedback around both product durability and the support experience has been shared with our team, as this is not the standard we aim to provide!
While we know this doesn’t change the experience you’ve had, we’d still like to take another look and see how we can support you! If you’re open to it, please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can review the situation further and determine next steps.

High expectations, but disappointed
Was disappointed in the thickness of the sheets. The elastic on the fitted sheet was thin and not robust enough to hold sheet in place. The fitted sheet barely fit our queen bed and it is not extra thick. . The flat sheet was too small in width and length, barely enough to tuck in end of mattress. Overall not worth the cost of the set.
The positives the color was nice and points for the pillow case design with fold over closure.

Hi Kathleen,
Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback! While we’re glad to hear that you liked the color and pillowcase design, we understand your disappointment with the sheet thickness, fit, and elastic quality. We’ve shared your comments with our product team as we continue refining dimensions and construction for a better fit and feel across a wider range of mattress types, and we appreciate your helping us improve.

Strange size
The sheets are nice quality. I really like them. However I wish I had paid better attention to the size noted for the Cal/King. The Duvet is way too long at the end of the bed and barely covers the bed side to side. I would not buy again based on the odd sizing.
Response from The CitizenryOct 16, 2025
Hi Barbara,
We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying the quality of your new sheets, but we understand your frustration with the duvet sizing. Your feedback about the dimensions for California King beds is really helpful, and we’ll be sure to share it with our product team as we continue refining our fit and design details. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!
