tastytradeReviews of tastytrade.com

Although the software is probably one of the best desktop platforms out there for ease of use, it has poor designs in certain areas, namely the Activity/Transaction screen. Be very careful with the software....always use "Clear selection" when you go back to this screen. What you see on the screen as selected is not always so....has led me to at least one incorrect trade.... Screen is very, very important for you knowing how much money you have in a trade....needs much more scrutiny and improved design.

They say trade small and trade often, its because they want to make ton of money on commissions. They kill you on commissions. Also, they got the worse executions ever. You almost never get price improvements. I get much better fills on Fidelity.

Hefty withdrawal fee They are advertising themselves as being transparent with their pricing, but there is a hidden 25$ - 50$ withdrawal fee if you are european. I reaaaaly love their free courses though! Also it just feels extremely insecure that 2FA isnt enabled by default on every log in. I wasn't asked for any confirmation other that my username and password on a new account.

I have tired them out, and experience was ok, just not what I was looking for.

I have used Tasty over the past few years now. They are a good broker that I trust. The problem is their desktop platform is a crash-o-matic. They are trying to expand features that nobody wants at the cost of not putting the effort into fixing the core platform. That said, I'll continue to use them in spite for their frustrating platform.

They have a very professional and courteous service (more professional than any broker I've encountered), but their fees are very high. For example, they charge $5 for assignment/exercise, which means you won't be able to do many options strategies... and you won't be able to close them either because you won't have any profit left because the gaps between the bid and ask will take all of your profit (even though their closing is free, but you still pay a lot gaps). I think this fee is the biggest failure that ruins all the quality service they have. It's such a shame that they don't understand this. It just makes a lot of people not open positions and in the end they lose a lot more. In addition, note that wire withdrawal fees are very high and reach $45. Bottom line, I really believe that in the future they are going to cencel the unnecessary $5 and then they will really be the best broker.

Some slow replies for customer service, took a while to get account approved, but all around good.

UPDATE: Through support I was directed to an optional way to view listed positions that does make things more clear. Support has been great. In my opinion this way of viewing still could be improved. Charting needs to be improved greatly. I use a different platform for charting. So I did upgrade to 3 stars since my issue was sort of resolved. ORIGINAL: Igave 2 stars because I had a negative experience with Tastyworks due to the way trades are listed in the "positions" tab. Support responded quickly & thoroughly explained to me that I clicked on the incorrect leg of a trade. This not only cost me money, it also resulted in the use of 3 day trades instead of one & potentially being flagged PDT. I did this because I didn't correctly identify to see if it was the correct leg which has to be done because the legs are listed out of the order placed & out of grouping order if they are multi-leg. This is different from the "activity" tab which shows trades placed in order & are grouped accordingly. I appreciate the great support I received but cannot rate higher until such an irresponsible, inefficient & potentially costly layout is changed.
