I had an extremely disappointing experience with Target Optical. I ordered progressive glasses with a promised delivery date, and despite the order showing as “shipped,” the store repeatedly told me they didn’t have it. I visited the location multiple times, only to be told each time that they couldn’t find my order, couldn’t track it, and couldn’t provide any real update.
To make things worse, I even received an email saying my order was ready for pickup — but when I went to the store, the manager still had no idea where it was. I was told to call other stores myself to track down the shipment, which is completely unacceptable.
There was no communication, no accountability, and no effort to resolve the issue. After this level of inconvenience and frustration, I will never use Target Optical again.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Rebecca is horrible and will waste your time. She had me wait over 2.5 hrs, just to tell me I needed a new prescription! I saw their eye doctor, which took another 2 hours. Target Optical online and via phone are both useless. I would not recommend.

They should do better!!
I've been through multiple levels of failure at Target Optical in King of Prussia which have become impossible to overlook.
I could revisit the repeated problems with my eyeglass orders, but this latest issue with contact lenses was the final straw.
My insurance covers unlimited contact lens fittings. I had my eye exam and ordered glasses in December 2025. On January 30th 2026, after my insurance reset, I returned for contact lenses so I could handle both (glasses and contacts) close together. Even though I had just had an exam one month earlier, I was told I needed a separate exam specifically for contacts. Fine — I paid the co-pay for it and got it done.
After that appointment, I was given two trial sets of contacts to test. Because of scheduling constraints, I wasn’t able to complete the trial period until April. When I finally did, neither option worked. So, only three months after that contact lens exam, I scheduled my next fitting appointment.
On the day of the appointment, they called to tell me that too much time had passed and I would now need yet another full exam — this time 100% out of pocket (100% out of pocket because I already had an annual exam on Jan 30th).
That is absurd.
If my insurance covers unlimited fittings, which it does, then being told I suddenly need to pay again after just three months is either a failure in policy transparency, a failure in staff training, or both. Either way, I am the one left paying for their confusion (maybe "confusion" is a harsh term. Instead, maybe I should say "scam for more money"?).
This location has consistently turned what should be a routine vision-care experience into a frustrating, expensive, and time consuming mess. At this point, I have no confidence in their competence, their communication, or their ability to handle even straightforward orders correctly.
Target Optical in King of Prussia has lost my business. They've lost my children's business. Being a Target Optical location doesn't imply a high bar to begin with, and somehow this location still managed to fall below it.

I do not see my orders
I do not see my orders; all my glasses have been incorrect, and they all have different Rx, but I only have one eyeglasses Rx. When I call, no one knows what is going on, or they cannot find my order using the order number right on the box I received. Literally, I have had three pairs of Rx eyeglasses, and not one of them is the same or correct. Good grief!!

Misleading Information on Website
Target Optical advertises on their website that "Member with EyeMed Freedom pass eligible for $0 out-of-pocket on frames, redeemable in-store or by contacting customer service." However they will not honor this because all of the Freedom pass that EyeMed issues says to present the coupon to a store associate. I chatted with a customer service person to ask before placing my order if I could use the coupon and she said yes and put a case in for it to be applied. Well, the case was reviewed, and they refused to honor the coupon saying that the only way I can use it is to go into the store. For some of us, we can't get to the store during the limited hours that the optical department operates.
Update: Target Optical responded asking me to email. I attempted to do so with the email address provided, but the email bounced back with “550 5.4.1 Recipient address rejected: Access denied,” so the escalation address they provided does not appear to accept external emails.

DISCRIMINATION DUE TO MY AGE AND DISABILITY
HERE IS THE MOST RECENT RESPONSE THAT I RECEIVED FROM A LAWYER AT TARGET OPTICAL. I WILL CUT AND PASTE IT HERE SO HOPEFULLY YOU'LL SEE WHAT A HARD TIME I AM HAVING.
To: Grissom Grant
cc: Terrell Ally
MR. GRANT, I AM WONDERING WHY IT TOOK YOU 6 MONTHS TO RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT AGAINST TARGET OPTICAL. EVERY WORD I HAVE PRINTED IS THE HONEST TRUTH ABOUT MY EXPERIENCES.
THERE WAS A FULL MONTH THAT WENT BY WHEN I WAS WAITING FOR MY GLASSES. I HAD DROPPED OFF THE PRESCRIPTION, PICKED OUT FRAMES, DISCRIMINATED AGAINST FOR MY DISABILITY AND TOLD THAT MY INSURANCE IS NOT ACCEPTED BY TARGET OPTICAL. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY ELECTRIC CART AND PUT IT OUTSIDE - YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. WHO DOES THAT? I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE FRAMES I WANTED AND THAT ALL I COULD GET WAS THE $59 FRAME. I DID PAY, YOU NEVER PAID ME BACK SO THERE'S ANOTHER FALSEHOOD. I'M SURE THAT NICOLE IN THE STORE THINKS SHE GOT AN ACADEMY AWARD FOR HER BEHAVIOR AND LIES. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF ELDER ABUSE.
THEN I WAITED THE 2-4 WEEKS THAT SHE SAID IT WOULD TAKE UNTIL THE GLASSES CAME IN. BY THEN MY HUSBAND WAS IN ICU AT THE HOSPITAL FOR A STROKE AND HEART ATTACK. I CALLED THE STORE TO FIND OUT IF I COULD COME BY THE NEXT DAY. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE I NEVER CALLED(NOT TRUE) AND HAD GIVEN THEM AN INCORRECT PHONE NUMBER (ALSO NOT TRUE), THEY SENT THEM BACK (YES, THAT WAS TRUE). THEN NICOLE'S ASSISTANT CAME OUT FROM THE BACK ROOM AND SAID SHE HAD FOUND THEM. SHE BROUGHT OUT A BOX AND PULL OUT A PUKE GREEN COLOR OF FRAMES AND LENSES THAT WOULD BE WAY TOO BIG FOR MY PRESCRIPTION. DO YOU KNOW HOW I KNEW THAT, NICOLE TOLD ME THAT. SHE SAID THE PRESCRIPTION WOULD NEVER WORK WITH MY LENSES. BOTH LADIES GANGED UP ON ME AND SAID THAT THESE WERE MINE AND THAT IT WAS MY FAULT THAT THEY COULD NOT CALL ME. I ASKED TO SEE THE PAPERWORK. HMMM, NOT MY NAME, NOT MY PHONE NUMBER, NOTHING AT ALL BELONGED TO ME. SO YES, I WALKED OUT OF THE STORE. THERE WOULD BE NO WAY THAT I WOULD CONTINUE WITH THAT LOCATION OF TARGET OPTICAL.
YOU SEEM TO BE ALMOST AS THREATENING AS THEY WERE. WHY CAN'T I CONTINUE MY PERSONAL CIVIL CASE? I DON'T HAVE ANY GLASSES AT ALL. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION. IF I HAD THEM, I WOULD BE WEARING THEM, BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE MINE AND NOT SOMEBODY'S LEFTOVERS. WHAT A DANGEROUS GAME YOU ARE PLAYING. I JUST FILED A LEGAL COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE STATE OF COLORADO.
I HAVE SENT DOZENS OF EMAILS REGARDING THIS MATTER. BY NOW, AFTER I WENT TO MY EYE SURGEON LAST WEEK, MY EYESIGHT HAS DETERIORATED SO BAD THAT I NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER SURGERY, AT LEAST ONE. MY INSURANCE COMPANY DID PAY FOR LENSES. I PAID FOR THE $59 FRAMES THAT ENDED UP BEING $220. THIS DOESN'T SEEM OUT OF LINE BUT THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE. NONE OF THIS MONEY HAS BEEN RETURNED. IN ADDITION, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT, LAWYER OR NOT, SO GET INFORMATION FROM A DOCTOR, A PROVIDER AND CERTAINLY NOT FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I BEGAN WITH A REQUEST FOR A LOWER AMOUNT OF RESTITUTION BUT AFTER THE WAY TARGET OPTICAL AND ESSILOR HAVE TREATED ME, I WARNED THAT THE SETTLEMENT AMOUNT WOULD GO UP. SO HERE WE ARE AT A STALEMATE.
I STICK BY MY STATEMENTS, I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INTO ANY TARGET OPTICAL, I WILL CONTINUE MY DEMAND FOR PAYMENT AND IT WILL INCREASE IF THIS IS NOT RESOLVED TO MY SATISFACTION.
I AM INSULTED BY YOUR STATEMENTS. I AM ELDERLY, CLEARLY DISABLED AND DESPERATELY IN NEED OF THE EXCELLENT GLASSES THAT I DESERVE. CURRENTLY, I CANNOT EVEN DRIVE.

TODAY MY DEMAND FOR PAYMENT REMAINS AT $25,000
MR. GRISSOM, FYI - I SPOKE WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TODAY ABOUT THE SITUATION WITH MY LACK OF EYEGLASSES. YOU'RE AN ATTORNEY, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU CANNOT TALK TO CERTAIN COMPANIES WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND THAT APPLIES TO MY HEALTH, VISION, HEARING, ETC. SO I KNOW FOR SURE NOW THAT YOU LAST CORRESPONDENCE IS 100% LIES. I AM PREPARED TO GO TO COURT ON THIS BUT I'M SURE YOU WON'T COMING OUT ON THE WINNING SIDE SINCE YOU AND YOUR COMPANY HAVE DENIED ME EYEGLASSES TWICE, TAKEN MONEY FROM ME FOR THE FRAMES THAT I WAS CHARGED 4X THE AMOUNT QUOTED.

Anti-Glare failed and Target told me "too bad, sometimes it happens"
We purchased glasses from Target Optical at the Steel Creek location just over a year ago and paid several hundreds of dollars, including for anti-glare coating on the lenses. The lenses have now become cloudy and blurry even when cleaned carefully with only water and a soft microfiber cloth.
When we brought the glasses back to the store, we were told that the anti-glare coating was coming off. The explanation given was that this just happens. We were never told at the time of purchase that the anti-glare coating could fail this way. Had we been clearly warned, we would not have paid extra for the coating.
The most disappointing part was the response from the Target Optical representative. Instead of showing concern or trying to help, the attitude felt dismissive, basically like “oh well, sometimes that happens.” For glasses that cost hundreds of dollars, that is unacceptable customer service.
I would caution others before purchasing glasses here. Make sure you fully understand how fragile the coating may be, what can cause it to fail, and whether Target Optical will stand behind the product if the lenses become cloudy or blurry after the coating starts coming off.
I am NEVER going back. Very Disappointed!!!
