MISLEADING/SCAM/NON-RESPONSIVE/PREDITORS
On July 28th, an oil change was performed on my vehicle at Take 5 - store #25 in Raleigh, NC. Immediately following the service, the vehicle began emitting large amounts of smoke both inside and outside, prompting an urgent return to the service location. My husband, understandably upset by the situation, requested to speak with a manager (Wes) due to the severity of the issue and the fact that our vehicle had no prior mechanical problems before this service. A Take 5 technician briefly inspected the vehicle and stated that oil had been spilled on the engine, which they claimed had been cleaned after returning, however, the cleaning was clearly inadequate thus having our vehicle towed off of the road. After the oil was supposedly cleaned, we were advised that the remaining oil would burn off while driving. Trusting this information, I proceeded with my planned road trip. Unfortunately, just 30 minutes into the drive, I was forced to stop due to excessive smoke and oil leakage trailing from the vehicle and the serious risk of our car catching fire if I followed the technician's advice to drive it and let the oil burn off. Go figure! Instead of caring about what damage it could cause driving it, they'd rather gamble with my safety. Upon pulling over, the smoke and oil leakage was really bad leaving no option but to have our car towed to a mechanic, who found a significant amount of oil spillage on the exhaust, engine, and skid plate. As a result, my trip was canceled, and we were hit with unexpected expenses for towing and professional oil cleaning. Given the improper service and the resulting inconvenience and costs, I am formally requested a full refund for the oil change performed on July 28th. Additionally, I am seeking reimbursement for the related expenses, resulting in towing, inspection and oil cleanup. Expense reimbursement down below: Oil change: $155 Towing: $240 Inspection & Oil clean: $72 Expense Total: $467 After escalating a complaint, the Store Manager Wes, spoke to his District Manager, Andrew, of which Andrew stated he would provide a full refund of all expensed incurred and reached out to my husband via email requesting receipts and photos be emailed to him before he released reimbursement to us. We gladly emailed those items right away only to be ignored. We have attempted to email the same receipts and pics several times asking if he would respond to our email and never received any response from the DM again. We even took our correspondence and sent our complaint to their customer service department, including emails we previously sent thinking we'd get someone to respond, but NOTHING. We sent a final email out giving a soft warning that we plan to forward our complaint to the consumer protection bureaus, attorney general and possibly be forced to have the matter litigated if they fail to follow up. NOTHING. Customer service is just as much a scam as the rest of the Take 5 Circus. I am not done though; We plan to escalate this all the way to court if necessary. Take 5 calls themselves a business? They have a common theme across the US yielding poor service, damage to vehicles and highly disgruntled customers. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!!
