I found SWISCO through a friend of mine. After ordering what I thought was the correct window crank, I called in and they directed me with simple advice on how to get the right crank to fix my window. The return was simple, and I've bookmarked SWISCO for the future.

Buyer beware
Buyer beware. Received glazing bead order but did not fit. Approval for return was granted. However, when return shipping cost exceeded the price of the product, I asked to utilize their shipping account number and was denied. Now I’m stuck with product I cannot use.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I understand your frustration with the return shipping costs, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
To help us find the best possible solution, could you please provide us with your order number and the dimensions of the glazing bead you received? This will help us investigate what went wrong and prevent it from happening again.
We want to make this right. We can offer you a full refund for the product, or we can send you a replacement with the correct dimensions. In either case, you can keep the original product.
We're committed to ensuring our customers are satisfied, and we appreciate you giving us the opportunity to resolve this.

I am still not happy with your reply letter. You are pushing this off on me again. I decided to go find another company that I can trust. The original purchase I was told that these balances were custom-made. This is not true. I have found the same balance for half of the price in stock. I have no faith in Swisco Inc.

I'm very sorry to hear that you're dissatisfied with our service. Your frustration is understandable and we do sympathize.
I'd like to offer an explanation for what we believe may have been the source of the issue you're experiencing based on both our recent and past conversations.
When you originally contacted us in 2021, it was in regards to the older balance ripping the pivot bars out of position. This kind of issue is most commonly attributed to an unbalanced in spring calibration relative to the weight of the sash, and our research pursued that theory.
Considering the damage to your sash before, and the damage to your pulley blocks more recently, we think that maybe the issue might something far less : the length of the balance was not appropriate to your sash size.
To summarize, we believe what was happening originally was that the cord was just short of the full travel it needed to close the sash. It may have been enough to close the sash all the way, but each time it closed, we theorize that it was causing excess strain on the full assembly.
For the first balance, this broke the sash. With the new balances, the strain instead went to the pulley block, which are universally made of plastic. Each time the sash closed, the cord, lacking appropriate length, pulled on that block. Despite seeming to operate normally, the stress of frequent use eventually proved too much and began to damage the blocks.
This is a very unfortunate situation and next to impossible for either of us to predict. I'm afraid that we have no way of determining the correct size without access to window manufacturer records.
The only solution we can offer is to lower the installation point; with the balance sitting lower in the side track, the cord will have enough travel to close without excess strain. That should solve the issue. This however is a very labor intensive retrofit and will require a small degree of trial and error.
Again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration. Please call us at 888-991-1929 to discuss further.

Shipping costs are not worth it
I ordered a simple window balance for $5 in December. Swisco charged me $6 to ship it to me. They could have just mailed this small part in a small envelope. It took 46 days to get to me from NJ to Atlanta. I dont need it anymore and stuck with it now. Other suppliers only took 3 days and charged $2 for shipping.

Not Customer Friendly
I ordered balances for windows and their site SPECIFICALLY said ‘figures are for two balances per sash’ which made me believe each sash held half the load of the window. I ordered 4 balances (repairing 2 windows) thinking each carries 13-19 pounds- but I needed balances that carried 26+ pounds. Their site wasn’t clear- and now I have to pay to return, reorder and simply requested they pay for either 1) return or 2) free shipping on the reorder- I was willing to pay for one of the shipping. They said they are ‘unable to do that’ I said fine- let me let the world know what kind of company you are when you have an unclear website and a customer trying to work with you.
Think twice about buying from Swisco.com if you expect good customer service…

Hardware is impossible to install using…
Hardware is impossible to install using instructions. One of the steps involves trimming tail piece using a piece of pliers. My husband is strong and was not able to do it. Attempted to return item and they would not accept the return because they said the item was damaged. Yes I know, we damaged it while attempting to install it using their instructions.

Regarding the return, we apologize for any confusion about the damaged item policy. We would like to work with you to find a solution. Ideally, hardware should be returned in its original condition, but we understand that difficulties can arise during installation.
Please reach out to our customer service manager at 888-991-1929 or [email protected] to discuss how we can fix this issue for you. We are committed to your satisfaction and will do our best to rectify this situation.
