The service from SW ENgines was very slow.. when I paid for my engine, it was not updated in the system for one week that it had been paid for, which resulted in an extra week before processing began. When ordering there is a place for you to be specific about shipping instructions. I specified that when shipping to our zipcode to please make sure that the carrier chose makes daily delivery to our zipcode as not all carriers do, some are once a week. SW Engines disregarded this request.. Our engine sat 200 miles away for an extra week and a half waiting for a truck to deliver to our zipcode.. and it actually only came from a neighboring state!When I called the shipping department the person there was rude and told me that they don't have time to look over all of the specific instructions that people make and when I said they shouldn't ask for requests if they are not going to try to honor them, he hung up. Yes, we finally got our engine but we were not happy with the service

ordered an engine from SW engines and after filling out the paperwork online for the engine to be shipped I called the company to make sure that everything was above board the guy that was supposed to call me back never called me back I made two more attempts to call the young man with no luck. after a week another man called me from this company and said that the paperwork did not go through I got the paperwork done again and that young man luckily called me back. Tried calling The manager of that department to complain about the young man that was supposed to call me back the first time left three different messages for him and he never returned my call. Totally unacceptable.

Bought an engine for my '98 Passat from them. They were a little slow shipping, but kept me informed during the process. Took a couple weeks to get it from the time of placing the order. I was supposed to save the PS pump, alternator, a/c compressor, and starter from my old engine to reuse. The rest was supposed to be complete. Engine arrived with a p/s pump, but without the intake manifold or a timing belt cover. The cover was no biggie, but my old manifold was destroyed (plastic) when the old engine blew. When I called, they were pretty flippant and basically said it was my problem. They don't sell parts. So, I had to get one quickly before the 10 day install period over to not void my warranty. After getting the engine in, it started a little rough, but settled down nicely. I freaked, though, because there was smoke pouring out of the exhaust! Looked like I was burning straight oil instead of gasoline. I called them, and they were supposed to have a manager call me back about taking it to a shop. I called several times, never talked to a manager and he never called back..They just blew me off. Took it to a shop anyway, and the problem was old oil and antifreeze from the old engine in the exhaust. Once that burned off (weeks) all was fine! This motor has leaked no oil or antifreeze. It has run fine. I did need to replace a coolant temp sensor. Bottom line, I got a good engine, but I think the warranty and follow up stinks. (The warranty also has an awful lot of stipulations before and after installing, so it's probably worthless. Plus the labor they pay is only $40/hr. We all know that a mechanic charges much more) I see it as a ploy to get you to buy from them. I got a good, clean motor. Runs good. I'm happy. Felt like I paid a little extra for it being clean, and I had to find a part that was supposed to be with it, but it's as good as I had hoped for considering the horrible reviews I read about them. I would buy from them again, though. The motor runs well. No leaks, no fluid loss, not missing. Smooth. After purchase customer service stinks, though.
