They look for any excuse to fail the test. (Looking up to think) or kid walking in to the room. Whatever. Waste of money.

This intro class was impossible.

We're sorry to hear that you had a difficult course experience. All of our students have access to the writing center and 24/7 tutoring through tutor.com, but would love to hear about what else you think could be done to support our students. If you'd like to discuss this further, please reach out to [email protected].

Great option. I completed my class. However, I paid for an additional class and was only able to get a credit instead of a refund. Sofia learning was a cheaper option for transferring to my school and had a better platform imo. I preferred my classes there.

I liked that the courses are affordable and work at your own pace, but some courses were very outdated and convoluted. For example, the accounting 1 course had PowerPoints within PowerPoints and each section had over 100 slides. It was not simple or straightforward. More information doesn’t necessarily equate to a better learning experience if it’s not structured well. Also, even though I would read every chapter within the provided textbook and would study before exams, there would be questions that were not within the exams. Some courses would tell you afterward what page and chapter the answer was in, so you can go back and study it better for the next test, but most of the courses would not provide any clarity about why your answer was wrong. If you never understood why it was wrong to begin with, it can have a negative compounding effect on future tests. I didn’t like the inconsistency between the overall quality of courses. Once you have an paid account, you cannot sample the courses afterward to see if it would be a waste of time or worth investing in.

It was a very enjoyable and easy to navigate. The work load was reasonable and interesting.

I used Straighterline to take 3 classes (Intro to IT, Calculus, and Intro to C++) that I was able to transfer into an accredited Computer Science program. It's legit. As a student, you just need to double-check to make sure classes are transferrable beforehand into the university/college you want to attend. This service saved me a semester of tuition (a couple hundred bucks spent vs. a few thousand so... that's a pretty good deal). I also believe the material in the courses is relevant and up-to-date. With the IT course I took, the material I learned via Straighterline aligned with other IT courses I took outside of Straighterline at my university. I also found the Calc course enough to get me up to speed to take DM1&2 courses at my school. If you're able to transfer the credits you earn from Straighterline into your school of choice, do it! Others mentioned taking courses from Sophia and Study.com - I took classes from all 3. All 3 have their pros/cons but, overall, are very similar - Sophia is easy, very inexpensive. Study.com provides a lot more transferrable classes and is very quiz/assignment focused. SL, in my experience, was heavily exam-based. The classes I needed were only available on ea platform so that's why I used all 3. I still recommend SL. I also recommend the other 2, too. They ea provide something different.
