The product is great. Shipping took 6 weeks and I missed her birthday.

We’re glad you love the finished piece, but a great gift should also arrive in time for the moment it was meant to celebrate. We’re truly sorry we fell short on timing. We’ll contact you directly to review what happened and work toward making this right. - The Story In Steel team

I think it should be noted bolder that items are shipped 15 days after order. My order was placed on 8/19 and not received until 9/16. While I understand that the process takes time it should be noted multiple times.

Custom-made should never mean unclear. You are right that the complete timeline should be prominently communicated throughout the experience, especially when someone may be ordering for an important date. We appreciate your patience and your honest feedback. We are working to make these expectations clearer at every stage, from ordering through delivery. - The Story In Steel team

Final product is great but customer support sucks. Paid for expedited everything and it still took almost a month to receive. Ordered two weeks before my anniversary as a surprise, and surprise, I gave it to her TWO weeks after. Asked for a credit on my expedited shipping (which they sent USPS) - crickets. I guess they got my money. If you can wait a month, great product but disappointed with timing.

We’re glad you love the final artwork, but we take full responsibility for the delay and lack of response. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide. We’ll send you a direct message to review your order and work toward a fair resolution. - The Story In Steel team.

The process itself was relatively simple. The artist rendering came quickly and well done and they responded quickly to the requested changes. I was unhappy with the turn around time once they sent the project to production. The design was approved on 11/1 and it was in production until 11/13. Which is less than the guaranteed 14 days but still disappointing. I also paid for express shipping but Story in Steel created the label on the 13th and UPS did not receive the package until the 15th. It was delivered by the 18th so UPS did an OK job once they received it. My main complaint however is that it had to be assembled upon delivery. This was a present that I sent directly to someone out of state and I felt embarrassed that I sent them a project that had to be put together. And for the a $250 price tag I would definitely expect the packaging to be better. The project came out okay but did not meet expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We take it very seriously, and I’m truly sorry your experience did not meet the standard we work so hard to deliver. I’m glad the design process went smoothly, but I understand your disappointment with the timing and the assembly required upon delivery, especially since it was a gift sent directly to someone. That should have been a seamless experience, and I’m sorry it wasn’t. Your message came at an important time for us. This week we introduced a new magnetic frame system that completely removes the need for any assembly. It was created specifically to address feedback like yours and ensure future gifts arrive ready to display right out of the box. We’ll reach out to you directly so we can make this right. Your support and honesty help us improve, and we truly appreciate it. – The Story in Steel Team

The backing of the project was not to my liking.they claim there is a film on the backing jars. But there is not. It is sticky and dust sticks to it like glue. They had the mounting brackets installed on the wrong side. Then, they sent me the wrong sized replacement board. So, my project is still not complete. No response from customer service. The steel section was beautifully cut. However, they didn’t leave a support section and it just flops inside the rest of the metal cut out. It’s really disappointing for a $250 price of art. I should have saved my money and given the cash to my wife for her to buy what she wanted. I really wish I could get my money back.

the logo on the front of the picture is too large and prominent. spoils the front. also the simple request I made to add a date to the frame was made well before the picture was completed and you could not accommodate that request.

I like the idea but it is really more portrait art. I wanted to have background( mountains) and perspective in this art is lost. I think the artist should bring people closer and make them bigger on first plan

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We’re glad you liked the concept and truly appreciate your suggestions. Our portraits are designed to focus mainly on the subjects themselves, but we completely understand your wish for more background detail and depth. We’ll reach out to you to discuss your vision further, we offer free revisions before production and are happy to adjust the composition to better match what you had in mind. – The Story in Steel Team.
