Bad company used by only cheap and bad employeers. I can tell you right now if you are offered a position and asked to do background with sterling. Please save yourself time and reject the offer

watch out for these guys, worst company for background checks, lost information, delays over and over, no results (we are in process of conducting...) have stone age web front end, send suspicious emails from anonymous accounts and don't respond to your own emails ... avoid at all cost!

Unfortunately, there isn't a 0 star rating available. Sterling lost all my information on the first round, then stopped replying in my requests for help (it took a month to complete). Second time around, as I reviewed the information that I entered, values were changed to what I had selected and it sent me into a loop around the form completion wizard. Surely accuracy of data entry should be paramount given the nature of how the data is to be used?! AVOID AVOID AVOID

I’ve been in the process around 3 months now, I moved to a new city for this job offer and I haven’t been able to step a foot into the office because the incompetence of this company. They have been sitting four week now in a document that government officials provided with the excuse that they need to verify that the document is legit. 4 WEEKS to verify a single piece of paper!!!! Every time I call I get the same answer that they have not been able to locate a third party to validate the document, ridiculous. They don’t have sense of urgency and they don’t care about the effect that it has on the individual. To all hiring managers, please don’t use Sterling as your provider, you will definitely loose a lot of good candidates by their incompetence.

Slightly delayed but helpful team! I know the reviews are scattered, and I’ll agree it has been hard to receive feedback from some of the Sterling team. That said, after contacting Ralf (based on these reviews) he’s been incredibly helpful and informative about the process. My background check is taking about 3 weeks, this is considered normal. If you provide documents, and are quick to act the background check appears to move faster. Overall, each person I spoke with was friendly but Ralf takes the cake in customer service!

Had my background check completed in 5 days with the exception of one portion and that was due to me gathering the necessary paperwork that was needed. I had an awesome experience both times I called the customer service number and got my question address quickly. Not sure why everyone here had such a bad experience. I’m sorry.

Can't believe I paid money for this service to do a background check. Firstly there was constant errors on the pages I needed to fill out, the most glaring issue was that it wouldn't recognize when I had filled out addresses past the 5 year mark so it would just keep prompting me for more addresses. Their solution was to mark me living at my first address since 2014 (not true), so that's suspect. Then I noticed my name on my profile is wrong too! Of course when I try to contact support about this I'm told they only handle US accounts. What a joke, this company is a racket, I'm already regretting giving them any of my information, who knows what's happening with it behind the scenes. Though considering the amount of incompetency shown so far, I doubt they'd even know how to do much with it.

I was recently offered a job with a company and I was really excited to join their team. I was advised that Sterling would be doing my reference and background check, so I filled out all the details on their online portal including all the photos they requested. It took a while, but I thought it was worth it. However, after some time they started emailing with confusing questions and requests for documents that I didn't have (and would later be told by professionals that didn't exist). I had my DBS certificate, financial and references back all fine, so I was unsure what they wanted. I called them to be receive more confusing and inaccurate information but was basically told to wait three more days for a specialist team. There days later I received a rather rude email advising me that needed to declare that I didn't have the documents they wanted. I called them to explain that I had other documents that I had been told would work. However again I was told that this would go to a specialist team. At this point Sterling strong armed into saying that I didn't have what they wanted by advising that this would affect my background check and potentially my job. So, I have now contacted their client. Just a side note that actually now considering another job offer, not with a client of Sterling. I won’t be dealing with Sterling again.
