Because of this company, I missed the chance to open my Stuart account, because to this day they have not been able to check my documents and did not give me an answer, a lot of incompetence.

Incompetent offshore call centre, no communication and delayed start date for a new employee 4 times even though all of the information has been supplied. I’m employed by a large corporate entity and will cancelling our relationship with Sterling immediately. The positive reviews are most definitely written by Sterling.

I've had my start date at my new job pushed back weeks because Sterling are unable to verify anything. I've sent all kinds of documents to them, they have everything from me and I keep getting automated emails repeating the same thing or saying they need "one more check". When I call them they have no idea what they need from me and just give me generic answers. Then I get the same automated email again. It's a pretty standard job and I've sent SO MUCH to them, never had such an awful experience doing bacground checks.

I have had the most stressful experience with this company 1. Initial trouble to progress through the process due to the system just hanging up. Response from customer service very poor, clearly untrained staff. 2. Several communications from Sterling requesting information, but none of the requests seemed linked or were acknowledged, the quote below from one communication is plain ridiculous and seemed to have no basis: "Rejection reason: An image was not readable, A document did not have a matching name, A document did not have a matching date-of-birth, A document did not match the selfie image, A document is expired" 3. No attempt made by Stirling to verify certificates supplied by me, instead they seem to rely on me to do this. A City and Guilds certificate has a unique number assigned which can be verified by City & Guilds. Is Stirling not aware of this? 4. Sterling unable to find "Right to work" verification. A British citizen who has a British passport and been working in the UK for nearly forty years implying I am working illegally. 5. Contact Stirling by 'phone was a complete waste of time, achieved nothing.

This is a viscious company. They're maliciously delaying my background search and putting a roadblock in my job journey. They were originally supposed to take 8 days (from Nov 14-Nov22). They did not complete anything. So i called them and they pushed the due date to December 7!!!! I've never seen a background check take so long. It's disgusting that they can play around with people's livelihoods and money like that. this is not a FBI position or any one that requires clearance. With Check, Assurehire and other companies, Most background checks are done in 3 days!! I have never been arrested nor charged with a crime. They said the hold up was the County court, so I called the courts and they said they never received a request from Sterling for a background check. They are deceitful and i hope they go out of business for damaging peoples employment opportunities!!

I have been trying to contact someone about my background check for the past week and every time the agent hangs up the call due to signal issues (not a problem on my end). I am receiving conflicting information via emails about what is required for the background check. The candidate page on their website says I've submitted all the information needed (which I have), yet I'm still receiving emails about various consent forms that need to be hand signed.

After some initial issues with verification of my passport and online discussions with 3 people from Sterling, I was unable to complete the passport verification digitally as their system would not accept the photo. Sterling have advised they will contact my recruiter direct to look at manual verification. I’m now hoping that there are no issues with the information provided for the DBS check (there should not be). There needs to be a robust exception process in place for ID failure e.g. the ability to upload an image of the passport document. A very frustrating and stressful experience which I hope will be resolved shortly. Sterling need to provide better communication to candidates instead of standard responses.

The initial phases have progressed very smoothly. However, after seeing I cleared my background check I have not had any further correspondence. I was told to wait for a response from DayForce who initiates the process after the initial background check.
