Let me give 0 start!!! I cannot go though the process because there is no complete information- so I go back and they ask me again about my NAME!!! I called choose 4 of the options as 5th is when you were asked to contact them. All 4 opinions tells me they can’t help and hangs up on me.

I have been waiting one month on a routine level 1 background check for a month now. I routinely check the status every time I do the response is it will be done in 48 hours. A week into this waiting game they had me track down the court case for them to investigate me! Major incompetence is when you cannot foresee when a task will be completed.

Sterling has been quite disappointing with their customer service. I provided all the evidence and emails regarding the wrong address on my report, and after 24 days of waiting, I still haven't received a response. They initially assured me that they would correct it and update me soon, but their lack of communication is frustrating. I’ve sent multiple emails, but it feels like I’m being ignored. I hope they can improve their responsiveness and resolve issues more efficiently in the future.

Horrible company. They request documents and won't accept pictures of requested documents on their website. Called support. They were no help. This company has also settled a number of class action lawsuits against them for reporting incorrect info to employers about perspective candidates. Total trash. Avoid any employer who uses their services.

They are incredibly expensive. Because I have lived in more than one state, my background check jumped from $39 to $140. And this is just to volunteer. Prohibitively expensive, and I wish NGOs would not choose them for background checks. There are tons of others that offer the same service for less.

Pricks decided because my references have lives and hardly anyone just answers unknown #s these days somehow its justified in not allowing my application to proceed. References are as outdated as Queens & Kings so screw you Sterling. Nor am I going to give you my ID on a job I haven't even received a offer for.

There are clearly easy ways to check employment history and asking what name l used at one of 4 companies seems absurd. When clearly I’ve stated I’ve never changed my name in the initial submission. The request for documents that are unlikely to be kept long after leaving also seems unreasonable. Add to this a history of working in regulated industries where these checks have clearly been carried out multiple times before and you’d think this outfit would be better equipped to find the story themselves instead of coming back with questions that show a lack of initiative or good process.

Ran a background check on me AND reported outdated negative information... even though I NEVER GAVE CONSENT for anyone to run a background check. Absolutely predatory, disgusting, and dishonest business. I feel violated, and because of the outdated, negative information they provided... I was kicked off of Care.com and can no longer find babysitting or housecleaning help through their stupid site (I have separate issues with them as well). Added so much stress and burden to my holidays, and--again--totally violated my privacy and rights.
