The process of ordering the labs was…
The process of ordering the labs was very easy and quick. Great prices compared to other sites. My results were available in 2 days. I gave it 4 stars because they advertise privacy and confidentiality, “no ID required” at the lab, “no one will know what you are being tested for”, but this is completely false information. My requisition form for Labcorp had all the labs listed very clearly, even the front page that they ask you to turn in with requisition form that states “no ID or insurance required”, it lists the actual names of the STDs you are being tested for, so the front desk staff can see it and everyone else at the lab. Moreover, the labcorp I went to requires you to check in electronically through their check-in booth in the waiting room, which requires you to scan your ID and you can’t bypass it. I explained to the front desk staff that I wasn’t required to use my ID and they insisted I had to in order to check in. I presented the forms which stated I didn’t, and it seemed like they’ve never had someone not wanting to scan their ID. Meanwhile, while I’m trying to do this for privacy and confidentiality, all eyes are on me at check-in with everyone in the small waiting room listening to the conversation. Even another customer voiced to me that it’s simple and easy to scan the ID and offered assistance. The staff seemed bothered about me not wanting to use the booth and just left my documents on the desk, while everyone else who checked in electronically, automatically was being called in a proper order. The experience was uncomfortable, no privacy or confidentiality. The phlebotomist was very courteous. If you don’t care about using your ID, then I highly recommend STDcheck. But if you want true privacy and confidentiality, it’s not that simple. Also, their website states the labs won’t go on your medical record. However, when you check in at the lab site, if you have done labs with them before and they have your information, it links the data when you scan your ID. People want privacy for many different reasons. Some people opt to do home test kits for that very reason, however, most home test kits are not FDA approved and are advertised as “Labs CAP & CLIA Certified”, but this just means the lab where they process your specimens is certified, not the test itself, and with so many home test kits, can you trust results are accurate. This is one of the reasons I chose STDcheck because the lab tests are FDA approved and collected at a CLIA certified lab. Lastly, I was disappointed that you can’t leave a review on Stdcheck.com’s website. They have “testimonials” on their website, but couldn’t find a way to leave my review.
