Used to be very good and efficient. Their support team was tops. But for the past couple of years, and especially the past year, it has been going from bad to worse to appalling. After the last "upgrade"/whatnot it has been impossible to communicate with them, rationally or otherwise. A real shame, to see good things go bad.

I've been with them for yers and they used to be good. BUT over the last year it's been awful. There's been 4 occasions where the service has been down for multiple days - on one occasion for over 3 weeks!. The only way I could get any response from their customer service was to find their CEO on LinkedIn and send him a message directly. Once I did get a response it was just "we can assure you your data is safe.." and ".. we have problems with the cluster..." You canot now rely on this company to be part of your disaster recovery. Go elsewhere

I was a customer until recently. I started a good relationship with them in 2011 - paid "Unlimited $149, yearly" - had several machines backuped there. This week I needed access to old files... and couldn't access any except from one backup... what a NIGHTMARE. I closed my account now - the only thing that still worked was charging my credit card. I CANNOT recommend this service - and for a company with the main business being security and trust... well, I cannot trust them anymore.

Lost all my backup data due to their product failure (Spideroak one). Unable to access even via browser because of faulty password change process not updating across system. Customer support responded once to initial email wirh generic info (obvious they'd not read my email properly re password difficulties) no responses to my attempts to contact since then. Had read that their service had declined but thought I'd be OK, wish I'd taken action to move my back ups to another provider sooner to avoid this stress.

As mentioned by others the service has become continually worse and one has to put up with outages of over a week. This is no longer a serious backup company.

Since becoming a Spider Oak user in April of 2021, backups have completely stopped working for over 5 days on 3 or 4 separate occasions. And each time I received the exact email referenced by another Trust Pilot reviewer saying that SpiderOak engineers were working to restore my server cluster. One of those times the engineers could not resolve the server issue as referenced by another reviewer and we had to delete our account and back up our data from scratch on a new server cluster which we were assured would be reliable. Currently I have not been able to back up data for 9 days and email tech support (the only option) has stopped replying. I should have canceled my SpiderOak account a year and a half ago. Kept hoping things would eventually improve and I could avoid the hassle of researching and implementing a new service. The initial backup with my new cloud backup service is in progress now. Trying to help others avoid a miserable experience.

I have used their paid for service for years, probably at least a decade. Everything worked great, just want I wanted and needed for a 'set it and forget it' secure backup of frequently changing important files. Recently however, the service has gone right down the pan. First, in the run up to each billing date, a warning about an unpaid invoice would flash on the application which caused me a little panic: everything should have paid automatically. There was no problem at all with my billing so this message was erroneous. After complaining a few times this error was rectified. The main issue though has been the past two weeks: the backups have stalled and I've been unable to upload files or access my already backed up files. I contacted support and there answer was they "...are currently experiencing an issue associated with the server cluster which hosts [my] account." They gave no timescale for resolution. Bizarrely they said I could open a new account and "transfer my billing history to it" - I fail to see why opening a new account would solve their server issues. I suspect more is going on that SpiderOak will admit - maybe they haven't paid their server bills? Regardless, I cannot recommend this previously excellent service AT ALL now.

I created my SpiderOak account in 2014. I wish the platform wasn't so heavily based on closed-source software. The interface is a bit clunky. A plus is that it's cross-platform.
