Don't give these people your money!!!
I tore my ACL a couple weeks before I was supposed to run one of these events. I asked for a refund due to the circumstances and even provided a doctors note to prove I wasn't lying. They threw their no-refund policy in my face and said they would give me a credit to sign up for another race.
What a joke! I need surgery and 9 months of rehab to make a full recovery and have no interest in immediately jumping into a spartan race. You cannot reason with them. They don't care, they just want your money.

Don’t Get Tricked!!! Transfer Credit a Joke
Really disappointed with the entire Spartan Race Franchise.
I signed up with my husband-to-be for a Spartan Sprint race coming up this weekend back in 1/2019. I was super excited and have been training. Long story short, a work thing came up and I am unable attend. Which means, unless I can transfer to a friend of my fiancées, he won’t be attending either.
Well I go on the website and they have links saying “don’t worry, we get life happens” follow these links to defer or transfer to a friend. Okay, phew I won’t be losing the over $100 I spent on this race right??? WRONG!!!
This policy is a bunch of smoke and mirrors. In order to transfer, first you need to pay a $35 transfer/ deferment fee. Then, the $14 insurance and $6 parking/ bag check are not transferable or refundable. So that will need to be paid again. Even though you haven’t run or attended yet, this is being recharged again to the new person. The only credit you are given is the amount paid for registration. So in my case, since I purchased well in advance and had a first time discount, I paid $76.99 for registration plus processing, insurance and bag fees.
So once you get this credit to give to your friend, they are responsible to pay the difference. In this case, the race is now $134.99 and you can’t use any discount codes with the race credit you have.
Right now there is a Black Friday discount code for 35% off. My friend is also active duty Military and could use that code too if he registers separately. Hell, they sell these things in Groupon for cheap (my mistake for going through the company).
Well if you are doing the math, you are not saving any cost of the race deferring or transferring. You are just paying for another race again.
If he used my credit,
134.99 -76.99= $58 +14 Insurance +$6 parking/bag + 16.27 processing fee =
$94.27
Add the $35 I paid to transfer —>129.27
total money spent to transfer more than registering on own! What on earth!!
If he registered on his own with 35% off=
$119.27
The cost of my race with the discount of first time runners after fees was = $107.17
So basically, he’d have to repay what I paid in order to run the race. And he’s not going to do that, so the company will pocket my fiancées money as well since he’s not going to do a race solo.
Spartan, Thats not acknowledging life happens and providing credit to someone else to run in my place since I can’t. This policy is horrible and fraud. Do not be tricked. The truth is in the numbers.
Make sure before you sign up, you are 110% sure you can race. Or wait last minute and purchase from Groupon so you get a good deal. Otherwise, consider your money gone.

This company is a joke!!!
This company is a joke!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!! My husband and I signed up for a specific time slot on his birthday because we both had to go to work after. We arrive at the race over 2 hours early and we are still given a time slot that was not our scheduled time, it was later so we were not able to participate. I had to EMAIL in for a refund, because they will not talk to you on the phone, at all!! All they would say is I have 90 days to sign up for another race or transfer my credits, so I was thinking 'okay I will do the next one that is in my area'. So I look and there isn't a race within 2 hours of me for over the next 18 MONTHS!!!! I tell customer service this, and all they do is send the same copied response saying I need to transfer it to another race or transfer my credits (OVER $200) to someone else!!!! I must have sent over 20 emails and literally got the same copied two responses each time. This company is a joke, and they literally just stole my money. How am I suppose to transfer to a race when none are within 2 hours within the next 18 months or give it to someone when I don't know anyone else that does these types of races, and I don't have money to being giving away as a '$200 just because gift'. THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY EVERY!!!!!

Spartan Sucks.
Customer service is awful!! As is their products. Races are very overpriced, and their service is the worst. Bought their Spartan Pro shoes. Broken after just a few runs and unusable. Will not refund. And worst of all, they delete all negative reviews on their website. Don't trust the company at all.

Spartan Race IS NOT flexible
Spartan Race IS NOT flexible. If you have any doubt you can't make the race DON'T Register!!! Their policies only favor them and cost you more money to reregister or what they refer to as deferment.
Fees you will get hit with:
Deferal fee 35.00
Service fee
Festival fee if it applies
New race fee
READ POLICY. If you have to think of making time, you probably miss the race.
You don't get a set amount. Spartan makes the rules. It seems you ask for a deferment with no set expectations on a number that Spartan decides. I'm sure there are other factors, but they won't disclose that.
Think long and hard. I just wasted merely $200 on an event that I will never do. All do to these money clever policies. Thanks Spartan for making my year. Your better off supporting your community with local events.

They are absolute scumbags when it…
They are absolute scumbags when it comes to needing any type of customer service whatsoever. My husband injured himself and won't be able to attend any of the races this year, but he would have been totally willing to have them push his credit to next year, and they refused to that or give us a refund. I've contacted my bank, and I recommend anyone in this situation to do the same. They won't work with you at all, which is ridiculous, because they are making PLENTY of money. We had already done two races with them this year, and would have done many more over our lifetime, but they won't get another dime out of us now.

A TOTAL rip off.
A total rip off.
If I could give it lower that one star, I would.
I signed of for a $99 deal on the website. It said “click here”... I did, put in the code.... the code didn’t work. I signed up and then contacted them to get my correct code. I wanted to let them know that their web button wasn’t working correctly. They said they couldn’t give me a refund because I had already signed up (this was 2 minutes later). I told them I contacted them to let them know that their web button wasn’t working correctly, and I just wanted the advertised rate. That took a week, a manager, and at least 7 emails to solve.
I ended up getting injured training. I contacted them back.... NO REFUND. But you can defer the race. Ok fine. So I click deferral. $32 to defer to next year. seriously? Ok. You have to pay this before you move on. Urughhh. Ok fine. Payed that... they sent me a code for $99 off entry fee! WHAT????? The price is $140. I contacted them back... “Sorry... you have to pay the deferral fee first.... and then the balance”. I told them that information was not available when I was clicking the deferral. Everyone would assume that the deferral fee IS the fee. So I payed a fee..... to get a discount code? I did NOT pay the difference. I figured if I did that... there would be another few after that. I cut my losses.
I told them I was going to write the better business bureau about their questionable business practices.

Shame on them, don't care about anything but profits!
The event was okay, extremely disappointed that these guys make so much profit and take advantage of local woodland and farm land, but do nothing to protect the environment or event help to clean up woods!
Their volunteers obviously volunteer for free so them wouldn't care less about small things they leave behind, but people use SIS drinks NUCCA one of their sponsors energy drink and all that left in teh woods! In addition they see rubbish but don't even both to help and clean it up!
Water distribution so many plastic cups left after the event it was unbelievable! They have no environment policies only interested to make money! Shame on them! I did the event once and wouldn't do it again just because of the reasons above!
