I have 5 cats and they all showed allergic reactions to Smalls Beef Pate and vomited severely after eating. 3 out of 5 are still vomiting that I should take them to vet. Smalls should investigate their food (batch no.0206). Smalls food are not all safe to our cats!!!

Hi Tomoko, Kate here. I just responded to your messages in our inbox, but thought I would follow up with you here as well. We are so sorry to hear about your kitties' allergic reaction! I assure you that we take reports like these very seriously, and I appreciate you providing us with the batch number so I can follow up with our production team. This is the first we are hearing of such a strong reaction, but I can tell you that protein-wise, our Beef recipe is our richest recipe by far and can be harder to introduce to cats with sensitive stomachs. A tablespoon or so at a time, mixed with their old food is the best way to introduce new foods in general, but I sometimes recommend adding some fresh water to the food as well. Cats who eat too quickly, especially a new food that they aren't used to, may end up vomiting which can be very stressful! I find that adding the water slows them down a bit and also helps them to adjust to their new food more easily.
We are always happy to help customize your orders based on dietary restrictions-- it's even a step in our Try at Home sampler quiz, because we never want to send your cats food that they are allergic to. I hope to hear back from you soon to talk more about how we can adjust your future orders to keep all of your kitties happy and healthy!

I tried the smalls sample pack for my very picky cat, and absolutely tried almost everything they suggested to get him to transition but he just did not touch it one bit. Not even a lick! That was fine though, as I usually have trouble finding a food brand he will eat.
What I was not ok about it was smalls customer service telling me I essentially need to starve my fur baby so that he will be eventually hungry enough to resort to eating the food he very much rejected (it's their recommended transitioning method). My cat is a rescue from a very abusive former owner who starved him and his sister for weeks on end, and I know he can/is used to not eating for very long periods and it makes me sad and unsettled to have to do that to him again (even if it's for his own good/health) so I won't. Heck I can always cook for him if he doesn't eat anything else...
After a bit of back and forth they eventually relented to my request for a refund. Only half of it though. I thought they offered full refunds so that was another disappointment.

Hi Anna,
Thank you so much for reaching out. I am sincerely sorry to hear about your disappointment with your recent experience with Smalls. We have transitioned many cats as a team and are always happy to offer advice where we can. That being said, we never want anyone to feel they need to starve their cats to achieve this goal! I am sorry you felt this was our suggestion. I would be more than happy to look into this further so that we can clarify the messaging with our team. Would you mind sending an email to [email protected] with the subject line "ATTN: Kate." I'd love to be able to pull up your account and make things right for you, as well as work with my team to make sure we're doing better in the future.

Want quality & customer service? Go somewhere else.
I ordered from this company a little over a week ago. Directly after ordering a sample pack, I emailed asking to cancel their "automated" service, as I noticed a lot of other people got charged without realizing it was automated payments going forward (quite expensive I might add), and I didn't even know if my cat would like this food. He's picky after all. It took 4 days and 6 emails to their customer service to get a response on them cancelling the auto payments/shipments. They gave me a "sorry it took so long to get back to you, we have been having an influx of emails!" Ok, cool, you canceled it for me, whatever. Moving forward, the sample order stated that my cat's food would ship on the 3rd of Feb. since they only ship on Mondays and I would receive another email letting me know when it has shipped and my tracking information. Alright, fine, no biggy. The 4th comes around and I have NO information as to if this shipped. I emailed. No response. I email again, twice, asking for my shipment information on the 5th before the respond with this exact response;
"I am very sorry for the delay in response. I just checked on this order for you, it looks like your order was placed for a sampler that includes our kibble. Due to an increase in demand, sampler boxes including kibble are currently shipping within 2 weeks of your order date-- both the plan selection page as well as your order confirmation page should have indicated this wait time, but I am so sorry if it was not clear! Because we only ship on Mondays, right now I am showing that this order is scheduled to ship on 2/10 -- but we will absolutely get it out to you faster if at all possible!
When this order ships, you'll receive a secondary notification from us along with a UPS tracking number and it should arrive within 2-3 business days. We sincerely appreciate your patience and can't wait for you to give Smalls a try! If there is anything else I can do to help, please let me know."
WHAT? What would you have done if I was a return customer? What would you have done had this been someone who RELIES on this service to feed their pet? What if your cat was transitioning into this food and then they had to get weened back off of it for a week because you "should have gotten some notification it would ship a WEEK LATE"? They would have been without food and NO NOTIFICATION that their package wasn't arriving unless they HOUNDED the customer service email to get any information. This is completely unacceptable for this kind of business. I cannot believe that you tried to tell me it would ship a week later and that I SHOULD HAVE gotten some kind of notice. Have you looked at your website? You can't even maneuver it properly.
Once I asked to cancel because I would rather not work with a company that does this to it's customers, let alone their fur babies, they finally responded in a timely manner to tell me that I can expect to see a refund in 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS. Good luck keeping a company open with this kind of customer service. While you seem sincere, your emails come off as harsh and quite frankly, rude. Don't lie to your customers. Don't tell them you have an influx of orders, tell them the truth. That you can't bother to answer your emails on time.

Absolutely terrible… I’ve been trying to adjust my plan via my login. It is impossible to make any adjustments to the plan. I’ve been trying to call or get in touch with someone. What kind of company doesn’t have phone support? I have texted per their instructions on the message when I called them. And no one has responded. I don’t know how to take care of this. I feel trapped. I’m gonna call my credit card company and block this company if I don’t hear from them soon.

Terrible food. Worse business model.
There are two major problems here: the food itself, and the business model.
First, my cats hated the food. When I mixed it with their usual food, they refused to eat it. So it ruined the food they actually like, on top of being wasted.
Then I try to cancel the box. For whatever reason, it didn't work, but I had no idea it didn't work. A few weeks later I get an email that they already shipped a box and CHARGED ME 4 DAYS EARLIER.
So they didn't warn me about the $160 charge and only told me about it after the box was on the way.
I asked again to cancel it. They told me since it already shipped they couldn't take it back.
They only make money by forcing people to pay without telling them beforehand. That's illegal in 22 states, but not mine, apparently.
Avoid Smalls cat food.

Worst logistic
Worst logistic. Received my order missing several items and also several wrong items.
I ordered a sampler box (4 bags of freeze dry and 6 different packs of fresh) with a bag of litter but only receive two bags of freeze dry, 5 kinds (2 packs the same kind). My freeze dry and litter’s gone missing from the package while the unlabeled ‘chicken’ minced i’m not sure which is which.
Also I taste all my cats’ freeze dry and their’s are very salty.
It’s not ready for serious business.
