Thank you for your feedback Robert. We’re sorry to hear this didn’t meet your expectations. The Texas Mountain Laurel you received is a 5 gallon plant, which is still in an early stage of growth. At this size, it’s completely normal for it to have a thinner trunk and a more shrub-like appearance. This variety naturally takes time in the ground to develop into the thicker, more tree-like form many people expect. We did follow up directly via email to provide more context around sizing and growth expectations, and to help clarify what’s typical for this stage of the plant. We work to set clear expectations on our product pages by including customer submitted photos that show how these plants look at this stage. In many cases, the plant received is actually larger than what’s typical for a 5 gallon Texas Mountain Laurel. While we understand this may not have aligned with what you had in mind, the plant delivered is true to the size and quality advertised. We take all customer feedback seriously and use it to continue improving how we communicate sizing, expectations, and the overall experience for future customers.

We want to clarify that our Better Boxwood Skylight shrubs are sourced from a trusted grower within the Better Boxwood network. They arrive to us in branded Better Boxwood containers and with official tags identifying the variety. We do not relabel or retag these plants ourselves. If a plant were ever mislabeled or incorrect upon arrival, we would absolutely make that right. However, in most cases, differences in appearance are due to pruning, shaping, or growth stage. Growers such as Better Boxwood and retailers like Home Depot may trim and shape their plants before sale, which can result in a more uniform or structured look compared to plants that have not yet been shaped. We’d be more than happy to review photos of what you received and help confirm the variety. If there was any error on our end, we will absolutely take care of it.

Hi Steven - We’re sorry you were unhappy with your order. After reviewing the situation with our team, we issued a full refund to resolve the matter. Trees may occasionally have structural pruning performed during normal grower/nursery production or handling. This type of pruning is a common horticultural practice and does not impact the long-term health or growth of the tree when properly planted and cared for. That said, we understand that expectations can vary. After you shared your concerns, our leadership team reviewed the situation and chose to resolve the matter by issuing a full refund. Simply Trees ships thousands of live plants nationwide each year, and our team works carefully to prepare plants for safe transport and successful establishment once planted. We always aim to review concerns thoughtfully and resolve them fairly when they arise.
