I never had a conversation with anyone. They would send me a smile - I would reply. That’s it. No conversation with anyone. Ever. Silver singles had to of been blocking me. If I sent a smile to someone - nothing ever happened. Don’t pay for this site. Ever!

Silver Singles is nothing but a front for catfishers. I was on the site for 3 weeks and was targeted by 5 women. Their mode of operation was all the same. Expressed interest, but within a day of connecting, asked to move off the site to another chat platform. They never answer questions directly, but begin probing for more info. When I asked for a refund from the management, I was it was too late, beyond their 3 day deadline. So I’m out $150. Don’t join and don’t trust this site. It’s fraudulent though and through.

Although it took me a little time and effort to figure out how to recognize false profiles, I would rate my first use of the platform as an overall success. I made a few introductions and established some conversations. That’s really all I was hoping to accomplish. Using a dating app still feels kind of odd to me, but this was a useful experiment. I did find the system to be relatively simple to use, and the support seemed timely and helpful.

I signed up for a paid subscription in Feb 2024. See reference number at end of review. Cons: 1) Minimum geographical distance is 50 miles, which is crazy! As one person messaged me, it takes a long time to get to know a person, and having to commute such a long distance for dating makes this process much harder. So I had to wade through lots of profiles before finding potential dates who lived 30 miles or less from my location. 2) To find a person's location, you must scroll to near the bottom of their profile. It would save subscribers a lot of time if the person's location appeared at the top, like the person's age does. 3) Especially after a few weeks, Silver singles begins to suggest people WAY out of your chosen geographical range. Perhaps this is because a person "smiled at you" from some faraway city. But why make my profile available to people outside my chosen geographical range? Including Hawaii!! (I live in CA). My boyfriend had received messages from women who live in Asia! 4) Messages from people who are temporarily within my geographical range (ie: at the nearby international airport!). Again, a waste of time to scroll down and discover the person lives out of state! 5) Fake profiles. Some fakes are easy to spot (profile photos don't match each other, huge grammatical/ language errors, profiles with very little detail, etc), but at other times, time is wasted messaging someone who is not who their profile says they are. Bumble has a better verification process. 6) Watch out for the Auto-renew, which I believe is a required part of a subscription! You must contact SilverSingles at least 24 hours BEFORE your subscription expires, and if you miss the deadline you are out of luck. I had many phone convo's with customer service before finally getting a partial refund of my $149 auto-renewed subscription. There are no messages or emails alerting you that your subscription is about to expire. Pro's 1) I met my boyfriend through silver singles, and we would not likely have met otherwise. We feel very lucky! 2) Messaging through the site is safer than texting, which is important in the early stages. You don't have to share your phone number or email address until you want to. It's actually a red flag if someone wants to switch to texting or phone calls right away. 3) Profiles can provide a lot of information about a person's interests, values, and hobbies, if the person bothers to complete their profile. 4) It's easy to find out if a person is super extroverted, which was a no go for me. Subscribers take an initial questionnaire which gives a general look at various personality traits, based on the "Big 5" personality traits. The only trait important to me was the introversion-extroversion scale, but info about other traits might be important to other subscribers. Reference number 24793384044001781521054

Site is fair for matching technology. Sometimes pairs me with people who are not my gender of interest. Fairly low on the scammer scale. Pretty worthless unless you pay to subscribe. Unsubscribing doesn't seem to work without filing a help desk ticket. All in all, a pretty average app targeted at a slightly different population.

I would not even give them 1 star but there is no other option. Silver Singles is the worst website I have ever experienced. I have had many connections and I can get up to 60 + messages per day and they are all scammers. It blows my mind. What a waste of money. I have came across a few scammers on other websites but not like this. Wow!
