I struggled to find a place for my mother. It was difficult taking her out of her home. Silverado was a godsend. My mom has thrived there due to a wonderful, caring, dedicated staff. It is truly a community where all are loved and appreciated.

Silverado took care of my dad who had Alzheimer's for about 18 months through his passing. My dad had a lot of difficulties throughout his life and in an unexpected way I think the time he spent in Silverado might have been some of the best. Everybody knew his name, he was never lonely, once he got comfortable living there he had nothing he worried about. The caretakers were patient and there was plenty of coverage for him and the other residents. The grounds are really nice too. While you're there all you can see are trees, and the buildings on the campus. Everything is open and walkable. Sometimes I'd walk around just because I could. I liked feeding the chickens. My dad passed about 2 years ago and I still often think about the times visiting him in Silverado as some of the most peaceful. I'm grateful to the staff and everything that keeps a institution like this running.

Caring for a loved one with dementia will likely be one of the most challenging experiences for a family. While no facility is perfect, the staff at Silverado is keenly aware of the unique challenges for both the residents and their families who are receiving care. Silverado works hard to match effective care for each resident. No one person‘s condition is the same. The staff use specific dementia care techniques, love and patience to care for all the residents. There is no substitute for family involvement and their support during this most difficult time. Silverado makes every effort to integrate families into the care plan. They offer lectures, access to experts, support groups and counseling. It has been over a year since my beloved wife passed. Since Senior Seasons began in 2004 and Silverado took charge of the Belmont community we have been referring our seniors and their families to Silverado. Our experiences over those years have been more than positive. When seniors are memory-challenged the Silverado team knows how to care for and engage the seniors and also helps the families cope with all the challenges and emotions that they are dealing with. Silverado's team goes above and beyond.

Silverado of Alexandria has been a true blessing for my father who has Alzheimer’s. He is treated with dignity and respect. He is calm and content now.

I feel that my wife is in a wonderful place and receives wonderful care. The entire staff, Administrator to the gardner, is always friendly. Receiving support, love and hugs is the order of the day. The administration is attentive to the needs and concerns of the families. The care givers and nurses that directly interact with the residents are always caring and attentive. I am very comfortable with the care that my wife receives. I see that same care, attention and love spread over the entire community. My wife always told me that she would go anywhere with me as long as she was warm. My mission in life is to keep my honey warm. She is very warm at Silverado.

Silverado is a life saver and I mean that literally. My relative was admitted to Silverado due to a dementia caused by excessive alcohol consumption. He had been in the hospital in acute care for approximately six weeks and it was essential to find a memory care community that provided compassionate and comprehensive care for him. We researched several other memory care communities in the Bay Area and after careful consideration, we decided Silverado was the best choice. I thought he would remain at Silverado for the duration of his life and he was only 69 years old. But, my assumptions were incorrect. He remained at Silverado for about eight months during which time he was extremely well cared for by attentive and dedicated staff members. The medical director at Silverado evaluated him initially and made recommendations to improve his psychological and physical health. The staff was supportive and kind and treated him like a family member. He enjoyed the activities and the social interaction with the other residents and over time he regained his mental capacity and physical health. I was told by the physicians at the two hospitals where he was initially treated that his condition (Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome) was irreversible. The medical director at Silverado gave me hope when my relative was first admitted. She said let's give it time. Little by little, he came back to life. His memory improved and his physical condition stabilized which allowed him to return home with part time help. As time passed, he was able to resume his normal activities and no longer needed help at home. I truly believe that Silverado brought my relative back to life, and I am incredibly grateful to them.

Great community for our mom! She is much less anxious and able to connect with the staff in a way that makes her happier.
