BUG INFESTED FACILITY
BUG INFESTATION!!! I have been terribly disappointed, frustrated and disgusted with Self Storage 1 West LA. I have had 2 10x20 lockers on the 6th floor - furniture from a pristinely clean $6MM house we sold. The storage facility is in a nice neighborhood and looks clean at first glance. 1. BUG INFESTATION!!!! We went to pick up our items today to move them to a new house, and both units are filled with live and dead moths and larvae. HUNDREDS of bugs were visible that had crept under the plastic wrapping on our mattresses and upholstered furniture and rugs. There were also many dead carcasses. 2. Self Storage 1 raised our storage rates 3 times in 18 months - we are now paying 100% more than original price we contracted. Self Storage 1's units are not airtight - there is a 2 inch gap at the ceiling throughout the 6th floor, so these bugs could have come from any one of hundreds of lockers at any time during the last 18 months. Today is Sunday - we plan to contact them tomorrow and see how they plan to remedy the situation, and will update this review then.

Hi Dawn, We are truly sorry you had this experience. This is highly unusual. We did everything we possibly could. While we do have regular pest control maintenance at our facility, we cannot prevent an infestation if rugs are not cleaned properly before they are stored. As far as our rates, we pride ourselves in being extremely competitive and we sincerely wish that there was such a thing as air-tight storage units, to our knowledge they do not exist in our industry. Clean, cool, and great staff
This facility is clean, well run and the staff is friendly, kind and helpful. I stored here for years, and I don't regret a moment of it.

Here's the deal
Here's the deal. They get you in for cheap and then keep hiking the rates until you leave. I went from $90 to $145 to $180 in 15 months?... What's maddening is that I called them and they had available units of the same size for $90... I'm sure it's the same with every place, but they finally forced me out...
