Damascus is etched on, steel is low quality, and I can find the exact same knife without the branding on chinese websites for $25, meaning it's being made for about that much and just gets upcharged for the branding. HORRIFIC, PREDATORY company. Tried for days to keep me from refunding my knife despite their "Money Back Guarantee" policy because I OPENED THE BOX. After threatening a challenge and multiple days of emails, I returned it, got 80% back, and had to pay for shipping. These guys suck and they know it.

We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We want to clarify that not all of our knives are Damascus steel—though we do have a full Damascus Collection available for those seeking that specific material and aesthetic. All of our products are made with high-quality materials and craftsmanship, and our pricing reflects that. Our Money Back Guarantee and return policy are publicly posted on our website to ensure transparency, including details about returns and restocking fees. We value feedback like yours, as it helps us continue to improve our products and service. The Seido Knives Team ✨

The delivery was exactly as described, on time. I had a second order and was delivered ahead of time! These knives are SHARP. I used them on a dozen limes, like the old hot knife and butter. I also ordered the bamboo magnetic storage unit.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! SCAM ALERT!!!!! READ ALLLLLL REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! NOT BBB ACCREDITED!!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!! I bought these knives for my husband but he was gifted another set by another family member. No reason to keep both so I inquired about a return and refund. I was informed of a 20% RESTOCKING FEE as well I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR RETUNE SHIPPING and ANY OTHER FEES accrued in the return process. After looking into the return policy and other reviews further I found multiple other dissatisfied customers who complained about POOR AND EXTREMELY SLOW CUSTOMER SERVICE as well as POOR QUALITY PRODUCTS. I paid $366 for my product and am realizing this is money down the drain! I have no hope for the return refund process based off of the threatening email I received from the support team who are trying to bribe me to keep the product and they will send me $35 to keep the product. SCAM SCAM SCAM COMPANY!!!!!

We understand your concerns and want to clarify a few points. A partial refund offer was simply an option to help you avoid the hassle of returning the product. If you prefer, you may still return the item using the return address we previously provided, and we will process it according to our published return policy. Please note that Seido Knives is not a scam. We are a legitimate company, and our return policy—including the 20% restocking fee and return shipping responsibility—is clearly outlined on our website. The offer we made was meant as a courtesy to help you keep the product with minimal inconvenience, but following the policy is required if you wish to proceed with a return. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to assist you further within the framework of our policy.

Firstly we received the knives thinking they were real Damascus steel and that was a lie. They are laser engraved to look like Damascus steel. They claim to be hand forged and clearly are not. One if the knifes broke cutting a piece off cheese and they will not replace it claiming it was not a defective product. When we buy new knives we will go with a higher quality product. They dull extremely quickly and need constant sharpening after every use. These low quality knives are not what is advertised.

We’d like to clarify a few important points for anyone reading this review: • Damascus Steel: We do offer layered Damascus steel knives, and those products are clearly labeled as such on our website. However, not all Seido knives are Damascus steel. Some collections feature high-quality stainless-steel blades with decorative patterning for aesthetics, and we strive to be transparent about this in each product description. We never intend to misrepresent materials. • Hand-Forged Process: While many steps in modern knife production involve precision tooling for consistency and safety, our blades still go through multiple hands-on processes including grinding, heat treatment, finishing, and quality inspection. “Hand-forged” today does not always mean entirely hammer-forged from raw billet, as traditional methods have evolved across the industry. • Blade Breakage: A blade breaking—even when cutting soft food—is certainly frustrating. However, our warranty covers manufacturing defects, not breakage caused by stress, impact, or twisting forces, which can occur unintentionally during use. That said, we always review these cases carefully and never dismiss concerns lightly. • Edge Retention: All knives—regardless of brand or price—will eventually require maintenance. High-performance blades are sharpened to fine angles for precision, which may require more frequent touch-ups depending on usage and cutting surfaces. Proper boards and honing can significantly extend edge life. We understand that Seido may not have been the right fit for you, and we respect your decision to explore other options. At the same time, we remain proud of the many chefs, culinary students, home cooks, and professionals who rely on our knives daily and continue to choose Seido for their balance of performance, design, and value. We truly appreciate the feedback and wish you the very best in finding the knives that perfectly suit your needs.

Title: Premium price, disappointing durability and warranty response Review: I purchased the complete Seido knife set several years ago with the expectation of long-term durability consistent with the premium price and “lifetime” branding. I take exceptional care of my knives — they are hand washed only, never placed in the dishwasher, immediately dried, and stored properly. These knives are used daily and treated as valuable tools. Despite this level of care, multiple wood handles have developed visible cracking. Even more concerning, one knife blade broke after being dropped, which is not something I would expect from a knife marketed as high-quality or professional grade. I contacted Seido support, provided clear photos, and explained my care routine in detail. While communication was polite, I was ultimately told that cracking handles and blade failure after 3–4 years are considered normal wear and are not covered under their limited lifetime guarantee. That response is extremely disappointing given the cost of these knives. At this price point, I expected durability measured in decades, not a few years, especially when the knives are properly cared for and used as intended. The blades performed well when new, but longevity and warranty support do not match the premium branding. Buyers should be aware that once issues arise, meaningful support may not be available. A knife that breaks and cracks after careful daily use is not a lifetime knife — no matter how pretty it is.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We completely understand your frustration and appreciate the care you’ve taken with your knives. We’d like to clarify that our Limited-Lifetime Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, but it does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, or misuse, which unfortunately includes cracks from long-term use or a blade that was dropped. While we aim for durability, wood handles and high-carbon steel blades are naturally subject to changes over time, even with proper care. We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate your honesty—it helps us continually improve our products and communication about care and warranty coverage. We hope that despite these issues, the performance you enjoyed while the knives were in top condition added value to your cooking experience. — The Seido Knives Team ✨

This knife was represented as being a Japanese knife, but it is made in China. Tora Tsuki Cleaver. There’s nowhere on the website itself that it tells you that it’s made in China and you don’t find this out until you get it delivered. Now I will have to pay the shipping to return it.
