Very poor support
I bought 4 or 5 of these knife blocks in Dec 2025 as Christmas gifts. One was for my personal use. 9 months later the knife fell on the floor and the blade broke in half. The metal itself broke. The distance of the fall was about 32 inches. Thinking this to be incredibly odd, I sent it into support. They hid behind their warranty policy because it was our fault it fell. I have had Cutco knives for years and not one has broken from a fall like this. I find it incredibly sad that Seido doesn’t believe in their product enough to stand behind it in a situation like this. It’s easier to hide behind consumer fault for the occurrence than to replace the product. Knives should not break the way this one did.
Response from Seido KnivesOct 6, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand why a blade breaking after a fall would be concerning, especially given the relatively short distance and your experience with other knives. We’d like to clarify that our Limited Lifetime Guarantee covers manufacturing defects, but it does not cover damage resulting from accidental drops or impacts. While we understand that you may feel a knife should withstand a fall of this distance, the impact can place significant stress on a hardened blade and cause it to fracture. The fact that the blade broke upon impact does not necessarily indicate a manufacturing defect. Our support team reviewed the circumstances of your case and applied the warranty terms based on the cause of the damage, rather than simply refusing to stand behind the product. We genuinely appreciate that you purchased multiple Seido knife blocks as gifts, and we’re sorry that this particular experience did not meet your expectations. We respect your comparison to Cutco, but different knives and steels can respond differently to impact. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to clarify how our warranty applies to accidental damage.
