This is a standard industry practice, and sometimes the treatment can leave a temporary scent - similar to how new extensions from many professional brands may have a mild odor upon opening. The good news is that the smell is completely normal and typically fades after the first wash with a gentle shampoo and conditioner. We're also sorry to hear that the K-tip bonds didn't quite meet your expectations regarding the color. Please allow us to clarify: our K-tips use a transparent keratin. The color you see is actually the natural hair color concentrated within the bond. Because the bond encapsulates a dense bundle of hair strands, it can sometimes appear slightly darker or more concentrated than a single, loose strand. This is a normal characteristic of the product and not a defect, but we completely understand how it might be unexpected. Will ask our expert team to find any possible improvements on it.
