Reading these reviews, it is very obvious that scite.ai has issues with their billing systems. They have replied to several posts stating that an email is sent out before each charge which is absolutely not true, no such email is sent they just charge you. I would welcome them to show me proof of any emails they have sent me before charging, they just send receipts after they charge. I tried to cancel my subscription and it said it was successful on their website, but then got charged another two times. When I realised I was being charged these two extra times I asked for a refund, which they claimed that they can only refund me for the recent charge but not the other charge, stating “they have no records of me cancelling or reaching out to contact them about the issue”. They don’t send out emails confirming you’ve cancelled either. They have obviously got major issues with the subscription and billing. Customer support is not the easiest to get into contact with either, and reply quite sporadically. Overall I would not recommend scite.ai.

I signed up for the free trial and cancelled the next day. I am still being billed for the services.

Service works great! Use it almost daily without issue. Loved the free trial to test before fully diving in. Highly recommend for anyone in academia.

Signed up, used it, didn’t like it as Claude/GPT 4 is just as good and then cancelled two days within the 7 day free trial. Still charged me. But hey another GPT wrapper! Wow, so cool. Never seen that one before. Amazed Scite went through M&A and sold for $20MM. Shows how little DD strategics do. SAD!

scam, charged me money for months without using this or ever got useful output in trial

Their customer service is really weird, after I got charged for a subscription after the free-trial because I forgot to cancel it, I emailed their support if I can get a refund because I have no intention to use it, and I actually didn’t like it. They willingly cancelled my subscription and issued a refund. Then after I received my refund they charged me once again! Is this some sort of joke? How could that even happen and I checked my account and there is no subscription, so how do I get charged again for something I don’t have anymore!!

Scite.ai has the potential to be a valuable asset for researchers, but it seems struggling with a lot of limitations. The AI features of the assistant is lacking in functionality. Slow system and downtime with frequent maintenance and technical issues hindering my workflow. Repetitive and irrelevant responses by the assistant to provide focused and relevant information when requested to elaborate. I am opting out!

If I could give 0 stars to Scite, I would. I was charged £14 without realizing that I had signed up. I contacted my bank to get my money back as I never used Scite at all for my work. I received the rudest email from scite accusing me of being fraudulent.The pettiness of this company and the need to keep the £14 tells me that they are not doing so great. They demanded to contact my bank and cancel the dispute; otherwise, they would show the email they sent me as proof they tried to resolve the issue. I told them that I would not cancel the dispute and told them to keep the money and buy themselves something nice since they were very desperate to have my £14. Guess what? They kept it, lol. What a shambles of a company. It is laughable. P.S. I did say to them that I would share my experience, so here it is. Very petty customer service, aggressive as well.
