Waste of my time.. Trying to reach these people on the weekends you would think someone is trying to pull their teeth. As my Mom used to say.

NEVER use Santander for a car loan
Update: the state of Missouri received the title on September 2. I want to reiterate that this is NOT the correct process for state to state title transfer in Missouri. They also made my life miserable for SIX MONTHS.
I have been fighting Santander Consumer USA for SIX MONTHS over what should be a routine state-to-state title transfer, and I am absolutely furious.
I moved from Florida to Missouri and needed Santander, as the lienholder, to provide the documentation required to title and register my vehicle in Missouri. On March 10, 2026, I faxed Santander Missouri Form 5834, properly completed, signed, and notarized. On March 16, Santander returned that exact form to me, signed and notarized by their own representative, with the box checked stating that my title was held electronically.
You would think a company whose business involves financing vehicles could handle a state title transfer from there.
Apparently not.
On May 4, after I began chasing them for the necessary title documentation, I was specifically told it would be emailed to me WITHIN AN HOUR.
It never came.
I continued calling. And calling. And calling. I was hung up before even speaking to a rep multiple times.
I received conflicting information depending on which Santander representative I happened to speak with. At one point, I was actually told Santander had NEVER RECEIVED MY REQUEST.
I have a form that SANTANDER SIGNED AND NOTARIZED on March 16 in response to that request.
So clearly they received it.
Eventually, Santander gave me another explanation: they were supposedly going to contact Florida, have the electronic title converted to a paper title, and have that title sent directly to the Missouri Department of Revenue in Jefferson City. I was told this could take approximately four to six weeks.
There were TWO problems with that.
First, THAT IS NOT WHAT MISSOURI TOLD ME SANTANDER NEEDED TO DO.
Missouri gave Santander two options: provide me with the title itself or proof/receipt of the title, OR provide me with a letter on Santander letterhead explaining why they would not provide the title or proof/receipt of the title.
Santander did neither.
Secondly, SANTANDER NEVER SENT THE TITLE TO JEFFERSON CITY EITHER.
The "four to six-week" timeframe has long since passed.
Not a single time during this entire six-month ordeal has Santander sent the title to me, sent me proof/receipt of the title, provided the required letter explaining why they would not send it, OR actually sent the title to Jefferson City like they repeatedly claimed they were going to do.
I finally became so fed up that I filed a formal complaint with the Missouri Attorney General.
And what did Santander say in response?
They essentially repeated the same story about having Florida issue a paper title to Missouri.
THE TITLE STILL WAS NOT SENT.
Think about that. I escalated a routine title-transfer problem all the way to the STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL, Santander formally responded by saying what it supposedly intended to do, and then I STILL did not get the title transfer completed.
I have done everything asked of me. I obtained the Missouri form. I completed it. I had it notarized. I sent it to Santander. I followed up repeatedly. I contacted the DMV. I documented my calls. I waited through Santander's own estimated processing time. I explained exactly what Missouri required. I filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General. I have had to have two state inspections so far and will likely require another before this ordeal is over.
What exactly is the customer supposed to do after all that?
The constantly changing information has made this infinitely worse. Don't tell a customer a document will arrive within an hour if it isn't going to arrive. Don't tell a customer you never received a request when your own notarized signature is sitting on the returned form proving otherwise. Don't insist you're going to send a title somewhere it isn't supposed to go—and then FAIL TO SEND IT THERE ANYWAY.
If you have a Santander auto loan and plan to move to another state, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Save every form. Keep your fax confirmations. Write down dates. Keep copies of everything Santander signs. Take notes during every phone call. Do not assume that because a representative tells you something has been handled, it actually has been handled.
Better yet, if you have a choice, do NOT use Santander for your vehicle loan in the first place. I certainly never will again.
I STILL do not have my Missouri title transfer completed. My registration expired in May and I have a useless vehicle sitting in my driveway.
Absolutely unacceptable.

Santander Consumer USA
Santander Consumer USA — Extremely Disappointing Experience
Santander has been one of the worst financial companies I have ever dealt with. Their interest rates are outrageous, and when you are going through a serious financial hardship, they do not seem willing to work with you or provide meaningful solutions.
I recently experienced a medical emergency and am currently out of work after having a kidney transplant. I contacted Santander to explain my situation and requested a deferment because I am temporarily unable to work and am dealing with significant medical and financial circumstances. Unfortunately, I was told they could not provide a deferment or offer me a reasonable solution.
What was even more frustrating was trying to communicate with a representative who I had difficulty understanding because of their limited English. During an already stressful and serious situation, I needed someone who could clearly explain my options and help me find a solution—not make the situation more frustrating.
I eventually told them that if they could not work with me, they could come pick up the car because I am not going to put my health and peace of mind at risk stressing over a car payment while I am dealing with a major medical situation.
My advice to anyone considering Santander: Think twice before financing a vehicle through this company. I understand that people sometimes need secondary financing when they are trying to get a car, but there are other options worth exploring. I would encourage people to shop around, carefully compare interest rates and terms, and make sure the lender has reasonable hardship options before signing anything.
I would not recommend Santander based on my experience. When someone is going through a serious medical and financial hardship, you would hope a financial company would at least try to help find a workable solution.

This company is absolutely terrible and…
This company is absolutely terrible and I would avoid doing business with them at all costs!!! I have been paying off an autoloan on time for 2 years using my banking account and all of a sudden they blocked my banking account. Ive tried calling customer service but they just give me the run around and blame my bank. I spoke to the bank and they confirmed that it’s not on their end. I tried to speak to a supervisor and Shun (Employee #101119791 ) hung up in my face after waiting on hold for 30 min. So they’re essentially trying to force me to use their “paynearme” service that charges an extra 4 dollars per payment which might not be a lot but I’m already paying them thousands of dollars in interests.this is ridiculous and predatory and I will be contacting a lawyer. Also spoke to Rain (Employee #129234) who was also no help.

I would not recommend Santander…
I would not recommend Santander Consumer USA based on my experience.
My account is currently in good standing and nearly paid off. I contacted Santander regarding a recent credit-reporting issue and attempted to resolve it directly. After getting nowhere through normal customer service, I escalated the matter through the CFPB hoping someone with actual decision-making authority would review it.
The response was extremely disappointing. Santander denied the requested relief, provided no identifiable person or meaningful escalation channel to discuss the decision, and ultimately directed me back to the same general customer-service number that had already been unable to resolve the issue.
My biggest problem is not simply receiving an answer I disliked. It is how difficult Santander makes it to reach anyone empowered to exercise judgment or meaningfully review a customer concern. Even after a formal CFPB complaint, the process felt like another layer of scripted customer service rather than an actual escalation.
After this experience, I would not voluntarily finance another vehicle through Santander.

I'm paying more interest than what my car is worth and my credit score is as credit karma would say fair, I shouldn't be penalized for being a first time buyer with a fair credit score. Currently looking to get out of this loan because that's straight up robbery
