I have a 2tb Western Digital Passport with a blinking light and clicking noise and it will not read. I explained this to salvage data and told them that it will not read and more than likely the read heads have been damaged. It was delivered to them and called the next day saying nothing could be recovered and did I want my drive to be sent back for $40. So I got it back. As far as I can tell they plugged it in, couldn't read anything and that was it! I told them that the read heads were not functioning! I could have used recovery software myself if the read heads were functioning! So I've now sent my drive to Fields Data and they are taking my drive apart and putting the platters in another drive to salvage the data which is what needed to be done. Don't waste your time with Salvage Data. Go straight to Fields.

They wanted $4200 to get all the data off my hard drive. They stated it was damaged and they needed to do surgery to get all my data. $20 on Amazon for a docking station and I transfered everything in few hours. This company is an absolute scam and I hope their computers crash and they lose everything. Stay away from these crooks!

Absolute waste of time! Really feels they are just going to rip you off for return charges. Shipped my hard drive they knew it would require a level 3 data recovery they received my drive and called said they could t do anything because it was helium sealed. Charged me $40 for 2nd day return took over a week to get it back.

I went to their website to get a review, never got asked to be called I went to their website to get a generic price quote for what it would take to recover data off a dead NVME, the website had me put in phone number and such, however it just outright *called me*, without warning or consent, The "problem details" which they state is optional, must be filled in to continue the process The Next step is an mailing address, After that it askes for your name and phone number as part of an helpful estimate gathering. Except the step *immediately after that* they call you, *THEY CALL YOU* without you checking a box that you consent like *every single other website* And if you miss that call they start texting you, and trying to call you to schedule the drop off despite never being given an estimate. Unless I have been given an estimate of how much this will cost me, I wont send in my hardware, especially with other reviews stating they just never got their hardware back

I sent a defective drive to them to repair and a month later have not received any updates on it's status or what is possible. I have called and emailed 10+ times and cannot get a person to reply with when the evaluation will be done and can't get them to send the drive back to me. AVOID!!!

Weirdest bait and switch company. Really shifty and shades. Gave them my thumbdrive back in 2018. Originally they said a few weeks . Then 1 month. Then a year. Now 6 years later. All the while ignoring messages I send. Trying to call and talk to someone just to be given the runaround. And then they never send updates or anything. I guess my sentimental and volunteer files are forever lost. Should have gone with someone different. I will now take the regret of trusting them to my grave

This company is a bait-and-switch operation. They lure you in with a reasonable (what I would pay what I know would be fair..I work in tech. but don't have the equipment to have done this myself). It took weeks to connect; they will not communicate a quote via email. RED FLAG. Stay away from this firm. The 1 star is because they did agree to diagnose the dead machine. The down side...bait and switch, meaning a post diagnostic quote WAY higher than the range they initially presented. If I determine I have no recourse on material left on desktop (unfortunately not moved into cloud before the machine died), I'll DIY.

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. They quoted me over $2K to retrieve my data. I told them I couldn't afford that and asked them over and over to please return my hard drive. They will not. It's been months and nothing. I have lost valuable memories. I'm just heartbroken.
