Lack of communication from loan officer. The online process could be a good experience if the loan officer was more responsive. The loan processor and supervisor was awesome, very professional and responsive to questions and great explanation of documents needed to close. Because of the online process, I suggest checking often for updates on documents needed.

Failed communication
When I was getting quotes for closing costs and rates from several mortgage companies, Sage was one of them.
I was pre approved by 3 different companies, including Sage. It Took the longest to get one from Sage, and after I got it, I told the broker I was still comparing quotes. At that point he became belligerent and insisted at that point I “have to” go with Sage. I disagreed with him but he remained persistent that I had to use them, remaining very unprofessional like.
I then asked him if I signed any type of contract to use them and he stated no.
After doing some research, there are federal rules that bar brokers from intimidation such as this. I told him I’d get back to him if we were going with Sage.
Fast forward after we reviewed the closing costs and interest rates, we ended up going with Sage due to their competitive interest rate ( I will give them credit for that), and a 0.5 percent discount on closing costs if you used one of their real estate agents.
In terms of the process, communication was close to nil, the closer contacted me when she needed documents, and he, the original broker never got back to me during the process to check in.
I was never notified by anyone from Sage that everything was good and we had the go ahead to close. Everything I found out about the loan was either from my agent or the title company. There was no contact from either my broker or the closer for the last couple of weeks before closing. Never was contacted to see how things were going during the process, and was never contacted at closing time or afterwards.
Just having the better rate does not keep a mortgage loan company in business. Your customer should be the number one priority, and Sage completely failed in this area.

Easy application
Easy application, straight forward. Lack of explanations- the detail works. No applicant apply loans everyday, they need walk thoughts...
My processor taking vacation after processing just started...

Allmi can say is they did adequate job…
Allmi can say is they did adequate job at letting me take out another mortgage on my double wide. Even assured me I wouldn't lose it because with my smooth talking I'm for sure going to be able to pay it bsck. God is good, all the time, all the time God is good. Glory Hallelujah

Good rate and a strong start, but had follow-up to get to closing.
Our loan originator (Brianna H) was great - responsive, clear communication and reliable. There was a small hiccup on costs that we locked in on, vs. initial disclosure discrepancy, but she was able to resolve that. Once she passed us to the processing team, that is where delays and lack of communication happened. I had to follow-up multiple times and loop Brianna back in to get to close.
Overall, we are happy with our rate, Sage systems are easy to use for sending documents/info, the mobile notary for title was very convenient.
Also, be ready once credit is ran, the phone calls are insane. My husband and I had 50+ each a day, and Brianna provided us instructions on how to limit those (though Federal Opt out & Do not call) so would recommend asking your loan officer about that and do it before credit is pulled!
I found Sage through Robinhood Gold account which I would recommend based on rate we locked in.

Website is a buggy mess
The loan officer was very professional and helpful. The loan processor was not very communicative and I got surprise requests for documents just before closing.
Also, I got the final closing disclosures just before my bank's wire transfer cutoff time on the day before closing which was stressful.
My main complaint though is the website. What a buggy mess. I got a blank page when trying to log in for the couple weeks leading up to closing. I am a developer myself so I inspected the blank page and there were tons of fairly basic errors preventing it from rendering properly. I opened the website on firefox, chrome and safari to similar results. Also, every time I inquire about rates on the website, it registered me as a new preapproval request, even though I already had an account. This caused me to get emails saying "Just checking in on the home search - do you need anything refreshed right now on your preapproval?" when I had already gone under contract on a house with Sage.

Worth consideration but Have a Few Things to Work On
Sage's rates are very competitive, if not the best. They don't penalize you for not escrowing your insurance or taxes. That alone will make them worth considering. The initial intake with the loan originator/officer (Marlena Cheeks) was awesome. She always answered my calls or returned them promptly. She kept her word in all respects. The website was easy to use initially. After locking in, is where things started to degrade. Sage hands you off to another person for successive steps. The service was not great afterwards. The next person was hard to reach, didn't return calls and was not responsive in a timely manner. The website was flaky. Never figured that out. I wish your initial person was the same throughout the whole process. They need to figure out the website issue. Lastly, they need to keep customer advised in between steps and keep up-to-date on major status items.

Initial conversations were great
Initial conversations were great. Seems like communication between staff is lacking. I did not appreciate that loan approval and documents were m ot initiated or collected from first contact. Waiting until under contract proved to be stressful, rates may have changed for the worse. There app is not user friendly, meaning you must add all documents at once. You are unable to add or update a document until they finally review documents then reach out to requesting an update that you already tried to do it couldn't. Once under contract everything is time sensitive. They app/system is not time efficient.
