runwayml.comReviews of runwayml.com

The video was incoherent and unusable. When I provided feedback and asked it to generate a second version, it crashed but did not reimburse my credits. I ran out of credits so I can no longer do anything with it and refuse to spend more if I will not get a coherent result. No support at all which makes me believe this is a scam. I will need to dispute the charge with my credit card.

I recently signed up for the $95 / month unlimited plan. I was excited to try it out. Around a week into using it, my account was suspended without explanation. I emailed an appeal, curious to find out what could have triggered a suspension. Runway claimed that I was permanently banned specifically for using “scripts” and account sharing. Except I am the only person using my account, and I certainly wasn’t using scripts. I presume that scripts are like bots / automation? I don't even know how to use that stuff. After researching online, I’ve seen many users claiming that Runway suspends Unlimited subscription accounts if they are using the unlimited service “too much.” AKA - if the use the service as advertised. RunwayML does not refund money in these cases, nor does it allow suspended users to access and download their creations made before the suspension. This creates two concerns: 1) Considering the justification for my account ban is so specific and so false - it lends some credence to the online speculation that Runway may ban accounts that use the Unlimited service "too much." I can't help but feel scammed. 2) With all the genuine concern about the environmental impact of AI, one would hope that there is at least a trade-off - that some value is created in exchange for the negative environmental impact and cost. But if RunwayML can suspend accounts in such a blatantly false manner - then refuse to let subscribers retrieve their finished outputs - it hints that they are OK with the negative impacts of AI resulting in nothing positive, no useable results - only wasted time, energy, and resources (on a macro and micro level). It also signals that they don't have respect for the users of their platform and their projects. Your project can be forfeit instantly - making RunwayML a dangerous choice for any professional projects or serious creative endeavors. Although it is an AI platform and plenty of people will presume that human effort and creativity is not required - my prompts were crafted from hundreds of pages of lore and descriptions that I have written, imagery I’ve developed, and videos I’ve recorded of human performances. Plus my hand-crafted Unreal Engine clips. I was very excited about seeing all that come to life - but now all the media created in Runway is gone. I did not expect to be banned for something I don't know how to do ("scripting") - so I planned to download the media at a later date. This has led me to view RunwayML as an untrustworthy service. It's left me wondering if deceptive and unscrupulous tactics are common in the gen AI platform space?

I signed up to Runway to create professional marketing videos for my business, but my experience has been very disappointing. The platform uses credits extremely quickly, especially when you need to regenerate content several times to get a usable result. Many of my outputs included distorted text, unreadable wording and results that were not suitable for professional business use, it also does not give you the option of a free trial which should of been a red flag. For a small business trying to create polished brand content, this became expensive very quickly. The quality was inconsistent, and the lack of control meant I had to keep spending credits just to try and correct issues that the platform created. I also requested a refund (less than 24hrs later and only 1 download), as the service did not meet my needs, but this was not allowed. This has made the experience even more frustrating, as I feel I paid for a tool that was not suitable for the professional marketing purpose I signed up for, I actually feel scammed and ripped off. Not happy at all

⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely Terrible Experience with RunwayML 😡💔 I have been using the Unlimited plan for months, and the performance has become unbelievably bad. Before, videos in Explore Mode usually generated within 8–10 minutes. Now a simple 1 video takes 40–50 minutes EVERY SINGLE TIME. 🤦‍♂️⏳ I tested this issue during different times of the day and night because I understand servers can get busy sometimes. But this problem happens 24/7. It doesn’t matter which model I use: • Gen-4 • Seedance 2.0 • Kling 2.0 • ALL of them are extremely slow now. 🚨 I even cancelled generations, retried with new prompts, and tested multiple workflows, but nothing changed. The platform has become almost unusable for professional content creators. The worst part? Support barely responds and emails are ignored. 📩❌ I paid for an Unlimited plan expecting professional performance, not waiting nearly an hour for one short video. This is a huge waste of time and money for creators who depend on fast workflows. Runway seriously needs to: ✅ Fix their servers and performance ✅ Stop ignoring customers ✅ Offer refunds when the service quality drops this badly Very disappointed. I honestly cannot recommend this service anymore. 👎

Absolute scam. And from reading the reviews everybody else thinks so too... Pro Plan is already expensive but to then find it uses half your credits on a single generation and the generation is filled with spelling mistakes that were spelt correctly in the prompt so its not even usable?? No customer service. Just wish id read the reviews before purchasing. Seriously DO NOT bother.

Very disappointed with my experience. The way the “Unlimited” subscription is presented feels extremely misleading. As a new user trying to learn the platform, I created one unusable test video and another just to understand how the system works — and suddenly most of my usable credits were gone. What they don’t make clear enough is that “Unlimited” mainly applies to a slower Explore Mode, while faster generations and certain AI models still heavily consume credits. Based on what I experienced, a 30-second video can effectively work out at around £40–£50 worth of credits even while paying for the so-called Unlimited package. As a small business owner, I paid expecting to reasonably experiment and create content without immediately hitting restrictions. Customer support mostly repeated scripted explanations instead of properly addressing the issue or escalating it to a real person. In my opinion, “Unlimited video generation” is not really unlimited in the way most people would naturally understand it. Read the small print very carefully before subscribing. Personally, I would avoid this at all costs.

This service is a strait up scam. Takes your money, does not produce results and customer service does not exist. Switched to NightCafe. Much better service and fair with it's pricing.

Horrible company with no support A horrible company with zero customer support. They use misleading advertising, luring you in with priority access, then dramatically slowing you down after a few days. Their models are heavily censored with vague Terms of Service and no explanation for why your prompt was rejected. You can wait an hour for a video, only for it to be rejected in the end. They remove features without any warning. I bought an annual plan for $1000 expecting 1080p Seedance 2 videos in about 10 minutes per generation, and within days they removed that. Shortly after, they also started slowing down generation times. Asking support on why i have slow ageneration that will even fail with big $ rate so jsut hours of time with 0 videos - they ansered "you can buy more credits to make videos faster" and their credits price is 4x times more expensive that other platforms. They delete negative messages and feedback from their Discord server. They can also ban you without any refund.
