I’ve never used the service but created an account and they decided to close my account and won’t give an explanation.

I would not use Rover again after my…
I would not use Rover again after my experience with both the sitter and Rover’s handling of my complaint.
I paid nearly $500 for a last-minute booking with sitter Alicia G., including approximately double the normal rate plus an additional transportation fee. From the beginning, I was accommodating—the sitter requested to arrive approximately two hours later than originally requested, which I allowed.
During our meet-and-greet, transportation was specifically discussed. She advised that she lived approximately 20 minutes away, had transportation, and she was given a key to my apartment. Once my dog was actually in her possession, however, my requests were repeatedly disregarded, including a simple request for a photo.
When an issue arose involving my dog’s food, she refused to return to retrieve it. After the stay, she claimed in her feedback that I had been given “two simple options”—pay additional money on top of what I had already paid or have someone drop the food off. Those conditions were NEVER communicated to me during the meet-and-greet. Had they been, I could have made an informed decision before leaving my dog in her care.
What disappointed and disturbed me most was Rover’s response. I repeatedly told Rover to review the messages exchanged through THEIR OWN PLATFORM. Rover has documentation of my communication, the requests I made of the sitter, and what was and was not provided during the stay. Despite having access to that documentation, Rover still chose to side with the sitter rather than meaningfully address my concerns.
My dog was ultimately returned early and was visibly shaking when I received him. Rover refunded the unused portion of the booking, but the money is no longer my main concern.
I am writing this review because I genuinely want other pet owners to understand why this experience caused me to lose trust in Rover with something far more important than money: the safety and well-being of my dog.
My dog is my family. If you consider your pet your child or your fur baby, I personally would not trust Rover with their care after what I experienced. What concerns me most is that Rover had access to the documented communication on its own platform and I still did not feel that my concerns regarding my dog’s care were taken seriously.
That is why I am speaking publicly about my experience. I want other people who deeply love their animals to know what happened to me before deciding whether they are comfortable trusting this platform with their own pet.
Additionally , before Rover gets the chance to send their generic message about reaching out to the trust and safety team. I really should have reviewed reviews like these before actually using the website Rover. I had a conversation and confirmed and showed the representative. I was working with Nicole who is a part of the trust and safety team all of the information needed and once again it is in their direct platform so before they come on here saying reach out to the 24/7 trust and safety team they are not going to help you guys either if you guys are ever wanting to book through Rover they will go through this whole process where they want you to reach out to the trust and safety team and still not resolve the issue.

Website is easy to navigate & research options, set up dates & times, and receive check ins about my pet. I especially like that if the person cannot work that a substitute can be chosen to follow through with the assignment.
