I will never use Rover again. My dog was healthy when I dropped him off for a three-day stay. When I picked him up, I immediately noticed he wasn’t acting like himself, and he smelled so strongly that I gave him a bath as soon as we got home. During the bath, I found blood on his face. After contacting the sitter, I was told there had been an incident involving broken glass and blood in the home that had never been disclosed during the stay or at pickup. Within hours of coming home, my dog developed vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and later bloody stool. The next day, he required emergency veterinary treatment, resulting in $1,819.56 in veterinary bills. I submitted a Rover Guarantee claim with my emergency veterinary records, invoices, photos, and a detailed timeline. Rover denied the claim because the illness was considered an “undetermined cause” gastrointestinal condition under its Guarantee terms, even though the symptoms began immediately after the boarding stay. My biggest disappointment is that the Rover Guarantee did not provide the protection I believed it would when my dog became seriously ill after a booking. If gastrointestinal illnesses, which can be among the most common reasons pets need emergency care after boarding, are excluded when the exact cause cannot be determined, I think many pet owners may have very different expectations of what the Guarantee actually covers. Rover refunded the cost of the stay, which I appreciate, but I was still left with over $1,800 in emergency veterinary expenses. Based on my experience, I will not use Rover again.

Rover.com is a very easy app to use. They kept me updated along the time my pet was being boarded. I know that my cat sitter was very good at keeping in contact with me through the app.

Rover is the go-to place for all things cat and dog-care related. They offer a wide range of services, and you can vet the client or the sitter before making a choice. And their customer service has always been available for me no matter how big or small my question or issue.

The petsitter we found through Rover was everything we hoped for. We interviewed a few. I'd say they were all as they described themselves. The one we chose was dependable, conscientious, strong communicator and very passionate about animals. He also lived within a mile, bonus! I wish Rover required licensed and bonded. You have to check on your own.
